Suchitoto – Day 2 🌞🚤
Started the morning with a typical Salvadoran breakfast: scrambled eggs with ham, fried plantain, fresh bread, cheese, gallo pinto, coffee, and a dash of local cream. Simple, fresh, and perfect fuel for the day ahead.
We walked down to the lake under the blazing sun until we reached the entrance. A friendly señora collected the fee (just $1–$2), and inside you could see the board listing boat trip options. Prices were per boat, not per person, but with a little chatting we got an hour-long trip, including a stop, for just $15 instead of the usual $30–$40.
The highlight? A visit to a small island where El Ermitaño lived in a cave by the water from 1989 to 2012. The peace, the view, and the breeze made it feel like a different world.
Back at the entrance, the bus stop was right there — plenty of time for a cold drink while waiting.

Day 3 after arriving in El Salvador, and what better way to kick things off than with a chicken bus ride from San Salvador to Suchitoto. Music blasting, good vibes all around, snacks and drinks passing hands — everyone here seems to be their own boss 🫣.
Suchitoto welcomed us with cobblestone streets, warm smiles, and the rhythm of small-town life. We wandered into a lively street game, then treated ourselves to a burger at Donde Pollo with one of the best lake views I’ve ever seen. $10 for a burger might sound steep… until you factor in that view. Worth every sat.
One night at Monchi’s Hostel — brand new, cozy, and serving a proper Salvadoran breakfast. A perfect start to the adventure.

✈️ July 2022 – Flight to El Salvador 🇸🇻
On July 14, we left Mexico and flew into El Salvador, driven by pure curiosity about what a Bitcoin Country really looks like.

Cerro Koi 🧱⛰️
What a wild and unique formation. We hiked this natural wonder with our daughter in the backpack and enjoyed a peaceful moment at the top — panoramic views over the lake, the breeze, and just silence.
This hill is made of polygonal sandstone columns, which is extremely rare in the world and only found in a few places. One of those… right here in Paraguay.
We’re still staying in Areguá, but moved into a different house — a place with beautiful, thoughtful architecture and a warm, grounded energy.

Winter days, muddy feet & strawberry bliss 🍓
Paraguayan winters are unpredictable — warm one day, grey and misty the next. And yet, that’s exactly what we love about it here in Areguá. When the weather flips, we leave the shoes behind and reconnect with the earth, quite literally. Mud between the toes, cold grass underfoot, lungs full of fresh lake air. No better way to ground ourselves — body and mind.
This place has a rhythm of its own. Streets lined with trees, small paths leading to lake views, and everywhere you look… strawberries. Lots of them. We stumbled into the local Expo Frutilla, and wow — pies, juices, towers of fresh fruit. No filters needed.
We’ve been hopping from place to place throughout this trip, but Areguá made us want to slow down. We’re staying longer — and switching to a new home soon. If it turns out cozy, we’ll share it too 😉
This season is all about balance: sweet treats and gym days, family time and silence, movement and recovery. Living it one step at a time.

Areguá 🍓 — strawberry village vibes & tranquil living
This might just be our favorite stop so far.
Areguá is a peaceful little strawberry town nestled by the lake. Every corner has something to make you smile—markets overflowing with fresh berries, cozy cafés under the trees, and people who take life a little slower.
We’ve been completely in the moment here. That’s also why this post came a bit late—no rush, no pressure, just now. 🍃
We try to keep balance: gym every day, long walks in nature, mindful eating (…but of course a good coffee with something sweet is part of the ritual ☕🍓).
We’re enjoying this rhythm—a calm mind, strong body, grateful heart.

A few quiet days in Coronel Oviedo 🇵🇾
Not much going on here — just time to slow down, reset, and enjoy being together as a family. We’re traveling with two close family members who feel like soulmates. Being around them feels natural — no masks, no effort, just real connection. 🧡
Our little one had a bit of a healing phase after a heavy and overstimulating week in Ciudad Del Este. Honestly, we all needed the downtime. Grateful for the space to breathe.
We had a proper Paraguayan asado this week 🔥 All-you-can-eat meat straight from the grill, fresh veggies, and delicious sauces — for just €7 including a drink. We skipped the beer though — alcohol isn’t really our thing 🍃
The rest of the days were filled with:
• ⚙️ Online work
• 💪 Training at a local gym (sweat, no excuses)
• ☕️ Casual walks in search of coffee and warm little places
Nothing fancy, just slow and steady progress — physically, emotionally, spiritually. “Live to improve, not to impress.”
Now we’re getting ready for our next stop: Areguá. Let’s gooo!

Farewell Ciudad del Este 🇵🇾
Before leaving this intense and buzzing city, we wrapped up our visit with two highlights that captured both Paraguay’s power and its peace:
🔌 Itaipu Dam
We couldn’t skip a visit to the famous Itaipu Dam — the second largest hydroelectric dam in the world (by generation capacity). The scale of this engineering marvel is impossible to capture on camera. We took a full tour around and over the dam, and suddenly the thriving local Bitcoin mining scene made perfect sense. Cheap hydro = hash heaven.
🌊 Saltos del Monday
To balance out the tech and power, we went straight to nature. These Paraguayan waterfalls offered a serene moment of reflection after the noise and chaos of the city. A stunning local gem, just minutes from the urban jungle.
That was our last day in Ciudad del Este. We’re now slowly heading west, taking a short break in Coronel Oviedo — nothing touristy, just getting back to basics: working online, exploring local gyms 💪, and giving our daughter some routine and calm after a packed week.

Bitcoin Energy & Brotherhood in Paraguay 🇵🇾⚡
During our stop in Hernandarias, we had the rare chance to visit one of Paraguay’s largest Bitcoin mining farms — home to 40,000+ miners, both hydro-cooled and air-cooled. The scale was next-level, the security even more so. No cameras allowed… but we still managed to snap two shots 👀📸
This operation currently mines around 5 BTC per day, fully powered by renewable hydro energy from Itaipú. Paraguay has serious energy potential, and Bitcoin is tapping into it. ⛏️
More than that — we connected with amazing local Bitcoiners. The community here is humble, strong, and quietly building something powerful.
We wrapped it up with dinner and a peaceful moment at Playa Tacurupucu, just a short ride away. From hash rate to heart rate — this day had it all.
Bitcoin fixes energy, money and human connection.

Ciudad del Este 🇵🇾 – where chaos and charm collide
We had some fun here – there’s definitely something to explore: colorful street food corners, cozy bars like BKLYN, and a stunning view at the triple frontier of Paraguay, Brazil, and Argentina. 🌎✨ A sunny pause with a powerful perspective.
But this city hits differently. Known for its tax-free shopping, Ciudad del Este is a chaotic puzzle of bustling stalls, packed shops, and trucks heading off fully loaded across the Brazilian border. 🇧🇷
Not everything is ideal though. Sleeping here has been challenging – there’s a noticeable intensity in the air, both in noise and energy. The radiation (or maybe just the city buzz) makes itself felt.
It’s a place of contrasts – but that’s part of the journey: staying open, observing, adapting… and then moving on.

Iguazú: Where Water Roars and Souls Rest 🌊🇧🇷✨
Tuesday brought us face to face with a force of nature that leaves no one untouched — the Iguazú Falls on the Brazilian side.
As we stepped onto the walkways and heard the thunder of millions of liters crashing down every second, we were overwhelmed. Not just by the sound or the spray, but by the enormity of creation. The kind that makes you stand still. The kind that makes you feel small — in the best possible way.
Even at 1m94, I felt humbled.
We stood together as a family, watching rainbows form in the mist, feeling the power and stillness at once. With all the noise and negativity in the world today, this was a sacred pause. A reset. A whisper from nature to remember what truly matters.
And in that stillness, a message rang loud and clear — not only in our hearts but printed across my back:
“God always wins – don’t forget that.”
