your application sounds interesting. seems you would be able to limit the effectiveness of the sensor in various ways such as neutral density filters. a prime lens would have no zoom.
and you can always set the camera for lower resolutions.
of course a low end early digital body at six megapixels would be dirt cheap, but those low end nikons can't drive the afd lenses autofocus.
but I'm coming to the conclusion I have no idea what you're trying to do 🤣

I have a Nikon D70, a Nikon D90, and a Nikon D610 (which has just died). I am debating a D780 vs a z6 iii myself
anyway, if buying an older used body is an option for you, check out keh.com - I've just now discovered them. They appear to have a warranty of some kind and a farily sophisticated grading mechanism..

I stood up. I died. I tried going anywhere else, I died. I waited, I died. I examined and tried to interact with everything the game described, including giving every object or throwing every object at everything else int he game, and I died.
I even gave away my towel. An obvious no-no. It was used to clean the mud off of some boots and then I died.
