Vexl might hash them internally but the fact is that most phone numbers are literally "live meatspace trackers" and there are reports every day of people being targeted thanks to location data
The responsible thing to do would be to completely remove the phone number dependency from their product, and not to normalise the sharing of such data within the community
Especially when phone numbers are KYC'd themselves in many jurisdictions. It's a dangerous (if client side) honeypot.

The GL750 (vpn) router is perfect for mobile data, and with the Blue Merle extension allows the IMEI to be flipped every time you change the sim (eg, monthly)

if you like nature, and adventure, yes
the area has had permanent settlers since august, however they have faced harrassment from croatian police - eg, id checks in the middle of the night, one physical attack (against a croatian citizen), and weird stuff like emptying the toilet of the police boat just upstream whilst settlers are washing in the river
despite the actions of some individual coppers, the majority of police checks are actually quite friendly.
The Liberland community is surely in need of more help as they move into winter, so if you're handy with outdoor stuff and self sufficiency, definitely pay them a visit!

Is NIP-05 the strategic user identifier?
It makes user management so much easier (one place to query for relays etc) but I thought I read that NIP-05 wasn't great due to insecurites of ICAN domains

This restaurant, no.
In general, it does work, although often you have to explain "no, not dollars, no, not bitcoin, choose lightning, don't worry, lightning is bitcoin"
in one supermarket they only had an onchain option in their chivo implementation
in another supermarket the QR was too small, we had to get out a keyboard to zoom in to make it work (am sure the locals waiting in the queue were impressed)
The other challenge is that waiters will sometimed outright lie and say they don't accept, or it doesn't work right now (but when you insist, it miraculously works)
