🐭"oh man [game] is the worst game ever it's programmed so horribly" bestie it's a miracle that any game from the 90s or before even *exists*, I need you to understand this

2026-04-18 17:53:28 UTC

🐭gamers have been led to understand that old games were full of weird bugs and quirks and were inherently just programmed really poorly, without understanding that a lot of the reason why was because they were making games with stuff like this

🦨I think the problem with vibe coding isn't even having the computer do all the work for you, it's that when it ends up breaking, you have no idea how the code works and you're just spending hours trying to prompt your way out of it. meanwhile, your software (say, a certain social media) stays broke

🦊Alright, here's the 17 argument function: I've effectively combined draw_sprite_ext and draw_sprite_tiled_ext, allowing the first to be used as a clipping mask for the second. Position, color blending, alpha, and scaling can be applied to both separately

🦊I also subsequently found out that Gamemaker lets you make functions with more than 16 arguments now. No idea how high it goes

2024-10-27 01:25:13 UTC

🦊 wrote a function that takes 17 arguments but I'm not gonna say what it does because it's funny knowing people will now speculate if I'm a really good programmer or a really bad programmer

🦊today's unnecessary feature: fancy animations for the stage select cards when you swap between worlds. I didn't need to add it but it's really fun
(also, general sneak peek at how the stage select screen is going, still lots to do though)
