I'd gotten a report from @npub14lr…e7yf about the same with Tusky. The root cause is that I recently updated the SSL cert (which expires yearly), and now it's signed with a root cert newer than older versions of Android support. Tusky is fixing this by bundling the root cert with their app.
BTW, we're using Sectigo, which has about a 25% SSL CA market share. I mention that just to point out it's not a local weirdness thing, but a widespread issue.

I'm so envious. Our local vet prices are extortionate now after PE ruined it. We needed to have some relatively minor treatment for our dog last year. I did the math and it would have been cheaper to fly first class to a Midwest city, stay at a 4-star hotel, have the work done, and come home than to pay the local vet.
No doubt about it, PE is literally killing pets. Everyone wants to do right by their furry friends, but when you get a quote for $10K, you start to weigh options.

I realized today that I’ve accidentally de-Googled myself without deliberately meaning to. I’ve never used Gmail, but host my mail elsewhere with a domain I own. I use my phone’s own calendar, contacts, and photos apps. I pay to search the web with Kagi. Apple Maps has been great for years. Chrome is only for broken websites. My home NAS is way nicer than Google Drive.
I hadn’t actively tried to do this. I just don’t use any of their stuff anymore. I don’t need it and haven’t missed it.

In practice, rogue registrars were busted frequently creating fake certs on behalf of governments and other spies. Now browsers generally won't use root certs from CAs which don't publish their certificate logs. It's bad if your or my server gets pwned. It's horrible if gmail.com gets compromised and a malicious actor can gather credentials from millions of users at ones. That's the kind of thing the logs are meant to protect against. And that's not just hypothetical, sadly.

My bad. I meant the cert pinning thing that was a fad a little while back, and fortunately seems to have been abandoned. But yeah, that’s exactly the idea. If you see that Tiny Registrar has issued an invalid cert, there are ways to report it. That’s critical feedback that must exist.
I think the general takeaway is that we’ve collectively ripped off the “obscurity” band-aid. That’s just not a thing anymore. Before you put anything on the ‘net, make sure it’s secure.

Those are legit arguments. I understand them and the concerns behind them. Counterarguments:
1. The attacks will come in moments anyway. Consider things like Shodan that continually scan the entire IPv4 space.
2. It's not just google.com. yourownsite.com could be spoofed, and the main tools preventing that, HSTS and cert preloading, are fraught with peril. Need to update to a new cert? Don't screw up the HSTS or no visitors can come to your site for the next 13 years!

Spent the evening writing a Python module to merge long lists of IP networks into the smallest set possible that covers the exact same ranges. You’d think that’d already exist but I couldn’t find one that didn’t invent its own IP address classes, or have O(n^3) runtime, or give the wrong results by missing lots of mergeable networks, or look like a Java programmer’s first Python project.
I’ll pack it up and put it on PyPI tomorrow if I have time.

It is always socially acceptable to punch nazis. Like, even if you're at a wedding ceremony, if someone throws a nazi salute, you can punch them right then and there. It's one of the few etiquette absolutes.

Could you find out how? The IRS's wizard at https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/individuals/earned-income-tax-credit-eitc says it's impossible, but I'd be delighted to find out that's wrong.

Nope. The $7K is their adjusted income after deductions. $3K is SET on their net 1099-K revenue from Schedule C. So it’s not really 43% on their whole income, but it *is* 43% of what the IRS classifies as their taxable income.

I know that was meant to be helpful, but it’s factually wrong. We triple-checked the numbers and got 4 professional opinions yielding the same number.
Standard deduction isn’t applied to the Schedule C when computing what number to pay taxes on.

No, because the self-employment tax rate is on net earnings from Schedule C (i.e. after taking business deductions but before taking personal deductions). Just confirmed with my $1200/hr tax lawyer.

Motherfuck the gig economy. My kid just did their taxes. After deductions and all that, they had about $7000 in net income, then $3000 in taxes on it because Rover says "they're not employees LOL”. Because Rover (and Uber and Lyft and…) want to evade taxes, my kid is paying a freaking 43% tax rate on minimum wages.
