I'll use one example. "An eye for an eye". The earliest interpretation of this, already implied in the Torah text is that of FINANCIAL compensation of damage. That is: the indigenous population of Palestine was systematically removed from Israel' s territory, its villages and economy destroyed, deported and murdered, especially children, by the state and Jewish citizens of Israel.
