Haven't figured out if I should try to target something p-code like or native.
p-code would have the nice effect of being easily cross-compilable, and coding up a p-code interpreter would be fairly easy to do even in assembly.

Playing with an idea to take what's essentially Pascal, but eliminating some of the pain points.
For example, using curly brackets instead of begin...end.

Trying to use the VICE emulator on my MacBook Pro, but I'm running into trouble with the keyboard.
Basically, the keyboard map included with VICE assumes you have a full size keyboard, but my laptop doesn't.
Does anyone happen to have a keymap file that would work, or is at least close?

Thank you. I’m sorry to say that at this point, I have no idea when I’ll have the mental bandwidth to resume working on the emulator. If there’s anyone out there who wants to pick it up and run with it, they can do it with my blessing. I don’t want to hold the project back.
The emulator runs code, and the VERA emulation seems to work well. The biggest things it doesn’t do yet are sound, keyboard / controllers, and SD emulation. My bet is a good C programmer could pick this up and run with it pretty quickly.
There *is* a kind of keyboard emulation in there, but it’s not compatible with what we eventually want to see there. (i.e. - based on reading the controller ports and following that protocol. Right now, it just reads the keyboard and shoves the scan codes into memory.)
Again, I’m sorry…. This isn’t the timeline I thought I’d be living out, but here we are.

So, Apple got weird with running unsigned applications in macOS 15.1. Basically, you’ll get a really weird error trying to run an unsigned app that was installed after upgrading to 15.1.
Contrary to popular belief, it’s really easy to deal with this.
First, you have to create a codesign certificate, then you need to run a command to sign the app. There are instructions for that here: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27474751/how-can-i-codesign-an-app-without-being-in-the-mac-developer-program. That’s right, you *don’t* have to pay for a developer account to do this.
Second, I noticed even after running the ‘—deep’ option on codesign, the app wouldn’t run. This is also really easy to fix, by typing: sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine AppName.app from the /Applications directory.
I have two aliases in my .zshrc for this process:
alias self-sign-dammit = ‘codesign -fs my-self-sign-certname —deep’
alias unquarantine='sudo xattr -r -d com.apple.quarantine'
That makes things quick with:
self-sign-dammit /Applications/TargetApplication.app
unquarantine /Applications/TargetApplication.app

Is there a #Wayland remote desktop sort of thing similar to xRdp?
I want to be able to see/use my #Linux desktop inside of a window on my Mac. xRdp does this really well for X Windows. I need to be able to forward display/keyboard/audio.
VNC isn't an answer to this question. The latency / weirdness of VNC is too distracting.

Just finished watching The Acolyte, or as I like to call it, Law and Order: Coruscant.
The visuals were amazing, some of the fight scenes were amazing. But plot-wise, it was a huge mess.
I wish Disney did better on this one, the actors deserved better, honestly. And it’s sad too, because it ends more or less on a cliffhanger, and there will be no resolution.
I’m kind of tired of the “The Jedi are bad, actually”, takes too. It’s actually ok for someone to be good without having a secret bad side.
Overall, I really think Paramount does better with Star Trek than Disney has ever done with Star Wars.

That’s pretty awful, but I’ve seen it so many times now. Back when J2EE was the new hotness, there were a bunch of engineers who had to use every damn feature of it, no matter how stupid the result was.
And there’s no damn reason to write a micro service in Rust, especially when python and JS are already there.
