my last wardrobe cleanout consisted of getting one of those 1.5m wide, freestanding, garment racks. Then when I wore something, I'd wash it and put it on the rack.
I did this for a year. Then everything not on the rack went to charity/bin.
Job done.

I forgot to mention the tools I used. At first I was just using a method from Zen where I stepped back from the thought, acknowledged it, and sent it downstream in an imaginary river.
Then when I'd gained some clarity I modified that to identify the thought and what it was about without engaging with it, or arguing against it. Then centering and returning to the present. I'd journal that thought for later examination. And searched some literature for any explanation.

TIL memories of emotional distress don't get stored in your brain with a datetime stamp. They are remembered by a part of your mind that doesn't have a concept of time.
So a traumatic event that occurred 25 years ago, can still trigger a feeling of emotional distress that feels immediate and as current today as it did back then.
This is sometimes manifested as a weird, inexplicable sinking feeling in the pit of the stomach, when a certain emotional memory is retriggered unexpectedly.
Apparently it's possible to recode these feelings when triggered if you are adept at mindfulness. To identify and diffuse the emotional memory as no longer a danger. Which will make them gradually less stressful.
Brains be weird.

I have 11 ft ceilings and it's an 1870's building, so there's sod all heat seals. So yeah I just wear layers when awake and put an extra quit on the bed to sleep.
If it's super cold, usually the four weeks of the depth of winter, I point a ceramic fan heater at me when at my desk. But normally I just acclimatise.
