I’ve gotten back into crosswords after a few decades and one change that makes me rather cross (wordplay fully intended) is clues no longer indicate the number of words in the answer, let alone the letter count of the word(s) in the clue.

@npub1j8c…0mm7 We put sticky notes over the oven controls (which are touch buttons in a glass panel) when stuff is stored there. Usually the note just says “NO!” but sometimes people will actually write what’s being kept in the oven, as a treat.

@npub1j8q…ma30 I’ve actually tried this and it’s not nearly as clear, because the elements don’t have sides so they don’t stack up like boxes. It’s just a bunch of panes floating in space. And, at least at the time I tried, adding dummy elements to every element to rotate them into being box-sides was… let’s call it “computationally taxing”.

This week I’m messing about with scroll-linked animations, and I’m having trouble figuring out a way to do a specific pattern. Easier to show it than to describe it, but I’ll try: The animation starts in its timeline according to how much of the element has been revealed, and proceeds from there to 100% as the end of the element approaches the view. In effect, “the furthest point in the element you can see is this much from the beginning of the element.” Any clever clogs care to cogitate?
