Would robots have a place on the farm?
#Technology is changing agriculture, from automated planting and harvesting to robots that can monitor crops and soil.
But where do we draw the line? Could robots help farmers work more efficiently, or could they take away something important from the human side of farming?
At Eco Youths Network, we would love to hear your thoughts.
Would you welcome robots on your farm? Why or why not?

Hi to our #donors and well-wishers,
We have posted a new update on our fundraiser.
We have also reactivated our fundraiser again as we continue working toward completing the project.
We have reached the stage where things have become harder to break through, even though we are close to the finish line.
The update explains everything that is happening on the ground, and we hope that, with your continued support, we can get through this stage.
Thank you again for your generous support.https://www.gofundme.com/f/water-well-at-eco-youths-farm

Hi, #Mastodon family and well-wishers, We are filled with excitement as our water well project has officially begun! Seeing the first day of work gives us so much hope that clean water is getting closer.
This is more than just digging a well it's the beginning of a dream becoming reality.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who has supported us so far, and we warmly welcome new donations as we continue this journey until the well is complete. Together, we are making it happen.🥰💪 https://www.gofundme.com/f/water-well-at-eco-youths-farm/cl/s?utm_campaign=fp_sharesheet&utm_content=amp20_t1&utm_medium=customer&utm_source=copy_link&lang=en_US

Hi, #Mastodon family
Once again, we are reaching out with hope.
First, thank you to everyone who helped us purchase our land which now belongs to us, and we are deeply grateful for your support.
Today, we are launching a new fundraiser for the next important step: digging a permanent water well on our farm. We have tried several ways to secure water, but they haven't been reliable.
A well will provide a sustainable water source, helping us grow food, care for our projects, and empower more young people in our community.
We kindly ask our supporters, friends, and well-wishers to stand with us once again.
Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to making this dream a reality. Please boost or share our fundraiser it makes a huge difference.
Together, we can keep this sustainable project growing. Thank you for your #love #solidarity and continued support.https://www.gofundme.com/f/water-well-at-eco-youths-farm

Hi #Mastodon family some people have been asking why we don’t post the maize on our land hhh. So here it is, our maize field looks all green and healthy 😉.
And the funny part is 🌽😂 the maize we gave the least attention is now among the most developed around us. Harvest time is getting closer and we can’t wait to share with the community 😉
In #Africa maize are used to make posho, a common school meal. Fresh maize can also be roasted or boiled and tastes great 😉.

Peter Mugabo, the new pumpkin farmer, proudly called some of us to visit the pumpkins he recently grew. They really looked nice and inspiring. So what do you think, fellow #farmers? Should we also grow pumpkins on our land...?
Can we plant them in between our banana plantations, and will that work well without affecting the bananas?

Yes, thank you for the feedback. By the way, as we mentioned earlier, in each banana planting hole we have also planted a coffee seedling. We’re hoping this will support us once the banana plantation’s cycle comes to an end in a few years

Ohh yes, we understand. Every place has its own nature that supports different things. Even if bananas don’t grow there, we believe there are other crops and activities you are successfully working on.

2026-04-23 06:04:55 UTC

We successfully completed mulching our banana plantation, and the plants are now well organized. This was not easy for us because it was challenging to find enough grass for mulching, but we are happy we managed to finish it.
Mulching helps in keeping moisture in the soil, improves soil fertility, reduces weed growth, and protects the plants from strong sun and heavy rain. This helps the bananas grow healthier and stronger.

As we step into the Easter vibes, we first had to focus on one important task making terraces on our land. The heavy waters from the surrounding hills have been washing away our fertile topsoil, which is vital for farming. We worked hard and succeeded. And seeing our bananas growing healthy and beautiful made us so happy it feels like they truly loved our land.💪

This thread is about our banana plantation project which is ongoing As you may know we started by planting fruit trees like mangoes, avocados guavas, and oranges with some few other types of trees on our land. Next is bananas, as we continue building a productive organic, and sustainable farm. We also plan to add coffee trees and later introduce green crops like cabbage, tomatoes, onions and carrots etc, to strengthen food security in our community. #SustainableFarming #FoodSecurity #Organic

We are currently in #Namililo village hunting for banana seeds but look, we saw what is possible As we passed by the local market, fresh bananas and other local foods filled the ground a clear sign of care, water and hard work. This is what we are planning for part of our land and we are looking for over 114 healthy banana suckers to plant, creating food, skills, and opportunity This is more than farming; its a future others can learn from and build on #SustainableFarming #FoodSecurity #Uganda

This was the first exhibition we truly enjoyed, and it left a lasting impression on us. It was amazing to see both young and old people coming together in one place, sharing the same inspiring experience. The environment is so motivating it lifts your mind the moment you arrive and instantly boosts your thinking. Yesterday we held a colorful tree-planting program in the Lunnya the small town Together with pupils from Lwamata Primary School in Lunnya, we walked through the the community carrying tree seedlings to the planting site. Along the way, many people joined and learned about our mission. Even those who didn’t know us before came to understand our work to protect the environment, fight climate change, and secure a better future through actions like tree planting.

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully reached our initial agreements with the landowners and have paid the first installment, granting us full access to the half of the land. We are also sharing authorized photos from the day with the individuals we met. As young people, acquiring land ownership has been a significant challenge. Since the beginning of our work, we have operated on rented land, and we are now transitioning to land that we will own #ecoprojects #Uganda 1/2........

Friends and supporters of Eco Youths Network Uganda, we are struggling to raise the remaining 900 Euros needed to complete the first installment, which will grant us access to half of the land we are hoping to buy. Where we currently rent, we are unstable and limited in access. Your support is still urgently needed, and we deeply appreciate everyone who has donated so far thank you for standing with us.

Update:
We managed to pay one more month of rent to our landlord, but we still haven’t raised half of the money required to pay the land owner. To clarify, the land we are renting is not the land we plan to buy;"some people were curious "they are different. Please consider donating to our fundraiser. Once we reach 50%, we will be able to access the land we plan to buy, half of which will be used by us. https://www.gofundme.com/f/buying-land-eco-youths-network-uganda

We’ve shared an update about the current situation and this is exactly what’s happening. Right now, we urgently need to raise at least half of the amount required to secure the land as soon as possible.
We are so grateful to everyone who has donated so faryour support means the world. 💚 Please read the update to see the latest, and if you can, consider donating again. Every contribution brings us closer to saving this land, and new donations are always warmly welcomed.

For many years, Africa has suffered under selfish dictators who promised change but delivered none. Citizens waited in hope, yet remained forgotten. Today, we youths have risen to act creating projects that support and uplift our communities where leadership failed. This mission is bigger than us; we need your support. Please donate to our fundraiser. We sincerely thank everyone who has supported us so far your generosity gives us strength and hope.

Unfortunately, Uganda is currently under an internet lockdown due to the upcoming presidential elections on 15th January, which affects communication and access to information; does this also happen in your country during elections? Please share your experiences with us. 🤔🤔#Elections #ElectionDay #InternetShutdown #DigitalRights

Over the past couple of months, we have been quietly building and testing creative small gardens using local materials. These simple innovations show how even limited space can produce food and hope. As the new year begins, we are resuming these projects in communities like Swazi, Lunya, and Namiriro, where we have been visiting, listening, and engaging directly with residents to grow solutions together. #CreativeGardening #UrbanFarming

That’s true, and as activists and people who care about the environment, we also hope those cleaner planes will come in the future. It would be great to experience flying without harming the planet.

.I understand your point, and I agree that flying has a big impact on our planet, especially with how often it’s used in the West by people who travel frequently. For us as youth, flying is still a dream for the future, and you know it’s not easy for many Africans to experience it even once. But I’m happy that we have the values and determination that might make it possible for us to fly one day, especially through our work with EYN.

I’ve noticed that some people even say they hate flying, which means they’ve flown so much that they’re tired of it. For me, I’m still waiting for the day I’ll see if I can also fly. I always want to connect with others, learn from them, and share knowledge together

We truly thank everyone who helped us in the fundraiser we had, which raised money for renting the land where we carry out all our project activities and trainings. Your support enabled us to pay six months, and we are deeply grateful. Our friend and supporter Doro @npub1qvk…ngtp has now started a new fundraiser to help us own our own land.#EcoNetwork #uganda Please consider supporting us again: https://www.gofundme.com/f/buying-land-eco-youths-network-uganda?attribution_id=sl:245130f6-e40a-4638-8650-7432c7fbaaba

We do forest farming. Our coffee grows under shade trees together with other plants, so it stays closer to nature and protects the soil and environment.

You can grow coffee and cacao in a way that keeps the land healthy for future generations. Try to farm with respect for nature and support each other as farmers share ideas then there the land can continue to feed your people for many years.

As a member of EYN in Uganda, I believe a good coffee farm is one that cares for both the land and the people. Fair trade and organic are important, but true sustainability goes deeper. A good farm protects the soil, keeps trees and shade, uses water wisely, and avoids chemicals that harm the environment. It also pays farmers fairly and helps the community grow food alongside the coffee, so families can eat and still earn from their crops...

People who love coffee don’t know the journey it takes before reaching their cup As coffee harvesters we work hard to ensure quality: a ripe coffee cherry is red not green, and the green ones are unripe and can kill the quality of the final product To protect good coffee for our customers we carefully sort out any green or unwanted beans that may fall in during harvesting, because quality starts at the farm and even the small harvests we get deserve to be the best. #CoffeeFarming #QualityCoffee

Mulching helps protect and improve soil by covering it with dry leaves, grass, or crop remains. It conserves moisture, prevents erosion, controls weeds, and adds organic nutrients as it decomposes. This simple method boosts crop yields and supports climate resilience... try to use it in your garden your will thank me later

Today, young people came together with great energy and teamwork to plant trees and restore our environment.
This activity shows how the youth are not only the leaders of tomorrow but also the changemakers of today.
Each tree planted is a step toward a cleaner, greener, and healthier planet for all. Let’s keep inspiring others to join hands in protecting Mother Earth.

Hello friends, we safely traveled from Uganda to Kenya for our permaculture training. The journey was long but full of new experiences crossing the border and seeing new places. We are now hosted by Roland, a white man who has become a true native of Kenya, in Kitui division. We reached today and tomorrow we begin our training with excitement and hope to learn a lot. #Permaculture #SustainableLiving #EcoYouth #GreenFuture

Thanks to the kind support of Dr. Dorothee, we’ve so far raised 120 Euros through our fundraiser. We’re deeply grateful to everyone who has contributed!
However, we still need more support to reach our goal to pay for the rented land where we run our youth projects and sustainability experiences.
If you believe in what we do and would like to walk and work with us on this journey, please consider donating through the fundraiser. Every little bit makes a difference

Many kids in our community look unhealthy. We’re stepping in with love and action offering parental support and teaching families how to live sustainably. By giving them a taste of our eco-products, we offer real proof and testimony that change is possible. The future is uncertain we may fail, but we never fail to try.

Today, as I was coming back from one of the schools where we recently initiated a sustainable garden, I passed by Kana’s farm. I was truly impressed he has a variety of healthy trees and his work is really inspiring. I plan to go back soon to visit him properly. I believe there’s a lot I can learn from him, and I look forward to building a strong connection.

During the strong #sunshine we #UgandaEcoYouthsNetwork found a smart #ecoFriendly way to keep water in our crops by using dried materials cut from our #banana plantations to cover the soil around our #eggplants this simple #climateSmart method helps the soil stay cool and moist even in dry weather and protects our food from drying out it's how we fight #hiddenHunger through #sustainableFarming and local innovation we never give up because #youthInAg can #stopHunger and build a resilient future.
