Luke-coin is the real bitcoin, and it has majority consensus (by those who actually matter), if you disagree with Luke you are among the majority who don't matter and so your opinion does not matter. And if you disagree with Luke you are also a pedophile.

I cannot wait for August to come just so these BIP110 crazies can finally get their fork and finally shut up about it. I'm not a fence sitter here, I'm strongly opposed to BIP110 because I understand bitcoin and realize this is not about spam vs no spam. The "stop spam" is a false label slapped onto a planned fork in order to gain support from alot of bitcoiners who are newer to it and do not understand the technicals fully.

Nostr is a beautiful thing. Free speech without KYC, without limits on "unverified" or "new accounts" (the ability to make ephemeral identities is essential to privacy), no censorship. At the same time, users can mute certain topics or even individuals. Freedom is about opting in, and the same spirit is in line with users choosing what to see or not see instead of a centralized social media company making that decision on what to censor and what is spam or "mis-info".
Even with those I disagree with, or view things differently than me, I value you (except for @nprofile…7y8r who made himself an enemy of me). On free speech though, I value the ability of everyone to exercise their free speech, yes including Luke Dashjr.
Nostr does for free speech, what Bitcoin does for money. We are building the future!

@nprofile…p5sa I just cannot support something that is worse than the problem itself. For me, this proposed solution does not fix anything as it does not stop _any_ spam. And if it even was a good idea, it should then be activated without a fork. I'd have to think of solutions, but if I had to say something on the spot. My suggestions would be
a.) b.i.p11O remove the planned fork, have it implement the proper way, with hashrate
b.) maybe increase the minimum tx fee to price out spam more, especially in a day when onchain fees are small from most transactions taking place on layer 2. Maybe like difficulty, have the minimum tx fee self adjust based on size of past blocks?

The simple truth, is that Bitcoin is a system of proof-of-work, not proof-of-stake, not proof-of-node which can be sybil attacked.
The case against #BIP110 is technically sound, and fact not opinion. But the "plebs" who are easily manipulated with various fallacies especially appeal to emotion and "protect the children" are being sady misled, and they will be screwing themselves by walking off a cliff in August when they fork themselves. Bitcoin uneffected, but those being misled will be effected.
Either way, if BIP110 was a good idea, what is fact is that unless it has alot of hashrate, it simply becomes its own fork and should not be called Bitcoin, if BIP110 is better than Bitcoin in peoples opinion, then they are free to use BIP11-coin. But cannot call BIP110-coin Bitcoin if it forked (as it is planned to) instead of gaining majority hashrate. IF BIP110 was implemented with majority hashrate then yes it would still be bitcoin.
For those of you who are pro-BIP110, you need to start dicussing what to call it. Maybe BitcoinMoney ? (BitcoinCash is already taken as a name)

anti-BIP110 people are not pro spam. This is the false label fallacy, slapping a label onto a cause so that anyone against the stupid idea can then be called evil or against whatever the label is.
This happened in 2020 in the USA. Communists tried to start a revolution, slapped the label "black lives matter" onto their revolution. So that they can then say anyone against them is against black people. Same thing with BIP110, it is a planned non-backwards compatible fork with a label of "anti-spam" slapped on it.
And yes, it IS and WILL be a fork , I can dive deeper into that if you'd like and explain with technical logic on how.

Nodes matter. So does proof-of-work. You simply cannot fork and continue to call it Bitcoin without majority hashrate. Not opinion, simple fact. If you want #BIP110 to win and still be bitcoin, it needs activated with majority hashrate otherwise it will fork off and be something other than bitcoin. If the BIP110 fork is in your opinion better than bitcoin, then people can simply choose to use the new coin, cannot call it bitcoin though.

I'll help you out here. The BIP110 opposition is technically sound. The pro-BIP110 people are just the loudest and ignoring the logically sound arguments against BIP110.
TL;DR = BIP110 supporters are misled, lacking technical competence, or focused on just part of BIP110 instead of it as a whole. BIP110 is a permanent fork with lack of backwards compatibility, not a temporary backwards compatible fork. BIP110 will create a fork off of bitcoin that will make it incompatible with bitcoin, it will be its own coin.

It seems like #BIP110 supporters are looking at just half of it, the filters, instead of the second half which is the bad part. BIP110 is a planned fork which is what makes it bad. You should support proof-of-stake or proof-of-node, not proof-of-work. Most nodes are not Knots, and after the fork 0 bicoin nodes will be knots because knots will no longer be bitcoin after the fork. And most users online are idiots and do not represent the majority of bitcoiners.

Where do you see this chart? From my view of global nodes, Knots is 17%.
Another question, do you think node count should be considered for consensus in lieu of proof-of-work? Maybe we should just do away with proof-of-work, go to proof-of-stake or proof-of-node instead?

Adding to my last reply, I wish I could remember the URL. There is a mempool dot space version someone is running that shows BIP110 compliant and bip110 non-compliant blocks. Then it shoes the offending transactions in each block. The type of transactions that violate BIP110 are a small minority of blockspace whenever I check it. Yet the prolific spam which uses OP_RETURN, is still allows in BIP110 for some reason.

Great question. I can answer that. Nodes matter, so does hashing power. without proof-of-work, bitcoin would be vulnerable to sybil attacks. Proof-of-stake and node counts can be easily sybiled. Ideally, people who run nodes would also mine, even if just a little bit of hash power that is still doing your part in keeping the hashrate decentralized. Nodes follow the longest _valid_ chain. This is my biggest concern with BIP110 is that it will not be the longest chain due to it going with a fork instead of activating the proper way. And if BIP110 changes the difficulty, it then will be making invalid blocks below the bitcoin difficulty requirement. If a miner produces an invalid block, it simply gets rejected by the network. The thing is, that BIP110 being on a different chain, would have BIP110 blocks being rejected by the bitcoin network. On non-monetary data, bitcoin is money and should be for monetary purposes only. BIP110 is not the solution though, it is worse than the problem itself. BIP110 does not stop any spam, it also still allows the most prolific spam which are runes. Now, even if BIP110 is good, it is the planned fork that made me against it. If it was not for the planned fork, I may actually be okay with BIP110. In bitcoin, if a chain does not have the longest _valid_ blocks, it is no longer bitcoin. If BIP110 wants to remain as bitcoin and implement, it needs majority hashrate. If BIP110 gets majority hashrate, then cool, you all would get your way then without it becoming its own coin.
