Nope! It’s nowhere near a mutual aid network. We would need at minimum a number of instances with shared backup servers, domains, sysdevs ready to do work on various servers as needed, etc. That’s the sort of reliability we need to organize online before we can even hope to do anything that’s actually on the ground.
I want to get us to the point where there’s a core system of sysdevs collectively running a number of pedi instances, and those who want to start one only have to pay for domains and be trusted enough to get started because we have our own trusted and secure hosting system.

I see the concerns but I don’t agree with the conclusion. Starting online is key. Communication infrastructure is incredibly important, and creating a mutual aid fediverse system, while far from a real-world touching mutual aid system, functions as an awesome starting point which would create a proof of concept for organization without risking dangerous dependency chains we don’t have the means of maintaining.
Online first, saturating that front, and then working from there into individualized real world projects like communes based on geographical proximity is, in my opinion, the best way to go about this.

No, it’s definitely the harsh tone and implications that has me defensive. But if you admit it was uncalled for I can forgive it.
This also isn’t furniture. It’s tackling a major failure point for me. Having to compile instances by hand over and over has a real risk of burning me out. This project *is me actively attempting to get others involved.* And also, I *did* do an internal discussion twice. And this was one of them. I am not part of a corporation or large organization that can hire every single go between necessary to make everything smooth. You’re basically saying “do the glue work for me,” which can be valid, but no one is entitled to it. This isn’t a corporate circumstance where I blame someone and fire them if they can’t do something for me because there isn’t the proper glue. Those that have the skills to require less glue will inevitably be more useful to me unless I happen to already have knowledge of that particular field.
Not to mention that unlike a boss, I’m not demanding anything. I wasn’t even asking someone to do something, I was simply asking programmers how hard something was. Ninlil (the system I’m making) exists as one, large corpus text file. There are however reasons one may want to make a smaller, tighter version that specializes in a small group of tasks, or that is customized for a specific individual’s needs.
The entire thing is one giant set of protocol weaved together via a memory tiering system. So one could, say, write a protocol designed for summarizing text, and as long as it was put in the right “block” style so the LLM running the memory protocol can recognize it, all you have to do is paste the new protocol into the big corpus, and it will be able to find and run it when needed. That’s what makes each of these separate text files containing one specific protocol wrapped in the correct format a “module.”
Toward this end, customizing an instance of Ninlil is about putting together all your different protocol modules you want in the correct order into a single text document.
The program in question would allow you to upload modules, and then follow a set of rules to put them all together into one big functional Ninlil instance that does all the things you want. The config would be like, some sort of menu, or some other way to change up which things are being added, which aren’t, stuff like that.

The manager takes all these different mods (modules) and loads them onto each other in a given order based on how it’s configured.
Except this would be even less modular than that because there are already rules about which “mods” go where.

uhhhh well I still don’t know what the other stuff you said means, but my idea was that I would just upload a bunch of separate text files representing modules. It already knows where the contents of files of a given module type go. And the configurer is basically like, there are different templates to choose from, or you can decide which specific modules you have uploaded already to choose. So I can be like “use this template, and fill it with these modules.”
Does that make more sense?

No. that’s what the programming is for. There is a raw template (text file) and different types of modules (text file). It identifies them all by naming convention. And then the program is programmed to fill in the template with the modules. And then there’s config so you can change things up about how it compiles to make different kinds of instances.
Hell, the template could be separated into sections so it doesn’t even have to know where to put anything, it just appends contents from different files in a given order based on the instructions.

Hm? Format? Like file type? Or the language?
It doesn’t have to be able to read the modules at all. All it needs to be able to do is read the file name, and write to a new text file and transfer the module contents to the correct places in it.
If you mean file type, uhhh I guess that would depend on what I can manage. I’d imagine I could just convert things, or use a new word processor for writing/saving things.

Ninlil has advised me to reword my request as follows:

- Derci has succeeded in getting a core set of participants in the past which is where these usually fail, but hasn’t actually taken the steps to get her movie night running this time around.
- Spag has hosted two or more recently and afaik participation has been extremely low
Bringing this up because I think pedi would benefit from having a group of hosts work toward a single event rather than three separate ones. But obviously you’re welcome to just host your own!

I gave her an outline of what I wanted and simply do not know enough about programming to help much more than i have.
The problem i find with some is that they demand clear, distinct, step by step instructions. But the more you give that to them, the more you run into “I don’t like the way you’re telling me to do this so i won’t do it.” Then you tell them, alright, you can do it however you want, as long as it’s within these parameters. And they say “well then tell me how to do it.”
They simultaneously want you to tell them what to do, and not tell them what to do. There is no winning. They require things like programming where there are years upon years of established norms, how-tos and certainty. But that’s not available in the realm we’re working in.
I’ve moved on from trying to work with her directly. I’m trying to get them to work more with each other anyways, instead of constantly coming to me for directions.
