watching these old boomer marxists, they characterize the rise of DSA or people like Platner not as 'populism' but 'the return of politics' i.e. political parties build support bases by making offers to constituents appealing to their needs.
This return of politics is rubbing ub against the old technocratic mode that's ruled for around 50 years.
It is a good way to put it, that simply responding to popular demands is so radical and controversial hints at a structural issue with the US and more broader that there is an entrenched technocratic regime with a particular dogma that cannot be questions ( israel must be funded, healtcare must be private etc. ) and they cannot handle politics who do not implicitly accept the terms of this regime.
So it makes the most opportunist social democratic pandering seem truly revolutionary by comparison.

i feel like you can 'love' someone casually, like you might not just view them as a sexual object but experience casual sex as a mutual beneficial activity, to doing it 'with' vs 'to'
i do think there is a lot of sex that is rather shallow or even harmful, where both parties feel empty or apart afterwards, but I'm not sure if 'pure love' needs to be there, or that casual sex can't be healthy but there's more factors at play
