I'm almost done reading the Torah portion of the Bible.
I know everyone says "modern jews aren't the same as 'Israelites' of the Bible," but even the latter come across as the most ungrateful humans I could ever imagine. God freed them with miracles and catastrophes. God shows himself to them everyday and night, guiding them. He gives them nourishing, miracle, magic food every morning. He heals them from snakebites.
Still, they constantly crow about going back to Egypt. They bitch about the miracle food. They create idols. They start rebellions.
They reject a God they interact with daily. Yes, they may have been "chosen," but only nominally. He was already exasperated with them weeks into their journey.
