does ffmpeg have rtsps support? maybe check with ffprobe or ffplay?
thinking about it though, rtsp (and i presume the rtsps variant too) sets up 2+ connections for media: the first is a rtcp control stream, and it also provides a SDP stream definition file (which your client then uses to set up media sessions for the resources defined in there). it might also be worth dumping the SDP and seeing if you can see if the session setup for that works directly

original’s a bit bright so I tried to hax it a bit with the ios image editor: brilliance to max, saturation to 15, and highlights to -50
it…..works, but feels like less of my usual style. has a bit of hdr unreal feel to it?

I realize this isn’t entirely the answer to your question but there are also a whole bunch of phenomenal people running youtube channels (and related things) - worth a dig around them maybe?
e.g. Red Means Recording immediately comes to mind for techno (and they offer courses on top of their already-huge base of free videos etc)

hmm that's a pretty good question! I've been slowly working on building up something in this vein just from my own experiences in handling iPhone photography (good god the native things for it suuuuuuck)
gonna bookmark this to revisit, and if I happen to find something I'll pop by with some thoughts/links
