I have noted this elsewhere, but these people really do live in the comment spaces and message board worlds. They think their social media buddies are representative.
Minneapolis would, to them, look "easy." Bunch of white people. A POC population they demonized.
Now they can't pull out without looking weak.

A bunch of angry,burnt out, humiliated, poorly trained troops at odds with society? Doesn't sound good. History tells us pent up or abandoned troops go wrong.
My thoughts:
1) they hold them in reserve awhile. That doesn't go well.
2) the troops resort to crime, pursuing sude agendas, etc. Discipline issues increase.
3) troops factonalize, turn on each other. Organization fragments, vulnerable to psy-ops.
4) late attempt to shuffle them around. Increased disorder and violence
They stay stupid and violent but at whom?

Haven't touched code professionally in 20 years, but I've worked in IT for 30 and still going. Yeah, this is all true.
I've experienced active code that's 15 years old (and some mathematical packages are older as no one wants to tweak them). I've also seen aging systems creaking and bending and have to be updated, and often too late.
I wonder how much of IT work and budgets are REALLY maintenance.

Nothing. These are people living in a bubble, unable to feel, a kind of sensory deprivation chamber of the soul. There's nothing there.
Your average person who lost their job has friends, family, hobbies, community. Each of their lives is more meaningful than these spoiled brats.

The "why aren't democrats doing anything" calls are nonproductive. It just further helps disempower a party that lost because not enough people showed up to stop an obvious criminal while the media was complicit.
Now YELLING at your electeds is GREAT. Call them. Give specific non-obscene suggestions. If they're recalcitrant bug the hell out of them.
Also, join an activist group. You cannot say "DO SOMETHING" until you first do something.
More importantly being active plugs you into the larger network. It makes YOU the one doing something, and helps you understand how things get done.
But don't help out the complicit media or the Republicans.

it really does fit doesn't it? It's all individualistic, ignores the real causes AND is about blame.
The people who made and benefit from this messed up system don't want to look at what they did AND don't want anyone else looking at them. So this fits too.
This is where the climate change issues and probable pandemic(s) is going to get real nasty. I expect Weather Control to actually come up in congress from more than MTG, and any pandemic will have so much bullshit that we'll see a higher body count.

My take on the election is America made a choice, one which will not serve it well, moreso with climate change bearing down on us. A sustainable future is not on the table, and reality will assert itself on even the most fevered dreams.
We can work to ensure that people survive, that the good in us survives, and that what remains is a foundation for a better future. But the US - and humanity - are heading for a derailment of climate and bad policy.
For me, I'll be sticking with my work in health care, work on sustainability and resilience, and keep up distributing books.

this is where I am concerned that:
1) people do not realize there are folks with truly nothing to lose.
2) those with nothing to loose may be more ready to break stuff.
3) those with nothing to lose may be harder to call back after an incident

I'd also add that we've not had a general strike.
I've been analyzing this since I'm a "systems guy" and the industry I work in is dependent on supply chains.
A few things:
1) Lots of fed up and angry people mean more "nothing less to loose" feelings.
2) Strike responses will doubtlessly be stupid and non-productive. Things will get worse.
3) "Giving in" to a large strike is not something our business/political culture will manage. It'll be labeled terrorism.
4) The economy won't take it, especially if it gets disruptive.
5) Recovery will take years due to a delicate economy.
Our economy has a lot of delicate, poorly-run, systems run by people with short-term goals. It'll be ugly.
