That's interesting, did you try it on a VM?

Hey fedi. Someone posted our reposted a blog post on here about a comparison between blogging and social media. I thought I favourited it to read later, but I didn't. Does anyone know I'd remember where I can give it?

Those launchers always look so tempting, but i always find that icon drawers with colours help me identify the small number of apps i have easier. Still think i might give yam a go.

I know I ask this periodically but:
SPACES or TABS?
(If you convert your tabs to spaces, then you use spaces.)

Since #Firefox seem to be blindly forcing AI into is browser, does anyone know of a Firefox-based browser that has explicitly come out against AI. Have Librewolf or Icecat made a statement that they'll try and remove.not include any embedded AI components?

Shared some thoughts on Labour's weird infatuation with AI in my latest blog post. #UKPol

I really would have thought that in this day-and-age FOSS contributors would at least have accounts on the open source git repos. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I wrote a little blog post about how you can use an emoji as your website's favicon.

There's something really sinister about all this recent Puritanism.

YouTube comments are just the worst these days. I'm so done with that place.

Fuck the law, trans women are women.

Knowing that Peertube's RSS feeds can be picked up by post readers, I'm giving serious thought to quitting YouTube in favour of the Fedi. The last few weeks, YouTube has really made themselves out to be such a shit company and I think it's time to really think about what I make and where it goes online. Might even get back into writing.
I love the Fedi's thoughts on this though.

YouTube's new anti trans policy changes are really making me want to stop posting videos there. I'm going to be giving some serious thought to what I will do next.

Chill my dude. It's not that you're not allowed to complain. It's that you ONLY seem to complain. You can do whatever you want, and people can like it or not, just don't get salty when they don't.
I don't show up to people's parties and only talk about how shit the party is. It's reading the room.

Please do. It's just making you upset, and tbh most of us just want the Linux Gaming news. It seems every time you're on here, it's to complain.

Four hours of chill gaming vibes with me and @npub1kkh…90ea as we play Divinity: Original Sin 2. #PeerTube timed exclusive.

For anyone who needs reminding, my #PeerTube channel is @npub1gyy…3tm7 and you can commont on videos just by replying to the status in your Fedi client.

I've always felt that Twitter massively overstated its relevance in the social media space. I'd imagine you get more traffic from places like Reddit?

My (UK) pay-as-you-go mobile phone provider, 1p Mobile, have just increased their minimum monthly top-up to £5 (£10 for two months). The feels a lot considering I only use my phone number to log in to WhatsApp and to take like three phone calls a year.
Does anyone know of any cheaper UK PAYG options? I really just want to keep my phone number connected for as cheaply as possible.

I'm starting to get back into casual streaming. Been enjoying hanging out with folks on my Discord and would like to grow out the community.

In the UK they're called 'waffers' because ping pong is sometimes *apparently* known as wiff-waff here.

Yeah, it's like a whole broad vibe of it feeling like it's decaying slowly. Fewer comments-to-views, less community chatter, indie creators leaving the platform in droves.
I think YouTube wants to pivot to TV and shorts.

It kinda feels like YouTube is slowly dying as a platform.
It's so big it'll hold itself upright for a long while, but I deffo think it's on the decline. Same with other corporate social media tbh.

2024-09-26 16:05:24 UTC

Yeah, the artefacting on YouTube is definitely getting worse. Not that I really mind, but I wonder what it means.
Are they nerfing Firefox? Are they cutting costs? Is it because I'm adblocking?
