@nprofile…dfhn the problem with getting them in good shape isn’t price, it’s getting them at all. Tagore in Dutch is a rarity on eBay. (I only buy Tagore on eBay because I don’t trust a listing without multiple good photos. I’ve been burned too many times.)
I don’t buy vintage type specimens at all anymore. I lost interest in the whole type specimen thing. The only specimen I’ve bought years was Rian Hughes’ latest kickstarter.

For anyone still considering emigrating to the USA, here’s my latest American health care nightmare: My doctor moved from his old practice to a new one at a large hospital. The hospital does not accept my insurance plan. The hospital also does not accept “self-pay.” Which means that I cannot even pay for services myself. My appointment was canceled and now I have to find a new doctor. Think about that before you come to this country.

Opened Netflix. There’s my font, title of a cool new movie. People are using it quite a bit these days. I should really release the oblique version I did years ago.
But it would be a lot more fun to do more fonts for writing systems used in other parts of the world that I’ll never see in use because I don’t know the language.

You can do corpus analysis with Gemini. It works with the KJV, Wikipedia, and some of the free corpora online. It’s pretty cool.

At Ozzfest 1997 they played Beavis and Butthead on the big screens between the Sabbath and Ozzy sets. I was sitting on the lawn smoking weed with two hippies. Digital Frontier is an excellent magazine. Content wise it’s thoughtful tech stuff, like reading Wired 25+ years ago. Design wise it’s wild and forward thinking without getting objectionably ugly.

@nprofile…6y8y I see two reasons. First, many graphic designers are so bad with computers that they’re put off by having to choose a server.
Second, the Fediverse can be hostile to self-promotion and advertising. I think some designers see social media primarily as a way to promote themselves. Those people will stick to Linkedin and Instagram.
