Nothing brings me more joy than to see the verdant green of a summer forest.
I like the sunburst flaring out in the top third, the brightness of the blue sky, the contrast of the shaded area, the dappled light. The lusciousness green.

I found Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman was a pretty enlightening read relating a bit to this theme.
Having been self employed my entire life, it's very easy to fall into the trap of thinking that I always need to be doing something in order to get more things done so that I don't feel like I'm slacking. I'm trying to tackle that mindset now and be more open to actual time off and non productivity 😊

I was expecting https://status.signal.org/ to show some sort of indication of there being an issue but it just says everything is working. It was my first port of call when I saw messages weren't sending for me.

Well, connecting my Bandcamp to Stripe was an unmitigated clusterfuck. I can no longer access my old Stripe accounts and the Bandcamp accounts are all completely broken. Plus I appear to have two Bandcamp Stripe accounts instead of one, but both just show the same errors.
Not exactly encouraging on that transition..

What amazed me about Spotify fining me is that the 'fraudulent' stream earnings were a pittance. Why would someone commit fraud to earn less than the potential fine.. 🤦🤔

The good news is that we have finally found a new place to live, so at least that stress is done with. With under 3 weeks to go we were really starting to worry. We ended up taking a place with one room less, so we're going to have to figure it out, but hopefully we can make it work!

This morning I discovered that Spotify are now taking more money from me than I'm earning from them by publishing my music on their platform.

I had some fun freezing different liquids, as well as layering liquids on top of previously frozen things. I can't remember what the drop is that looks blue though, but I think the white ice is actually oat milk 😁

Here I was stunned to discover miniscule insects that had clearly made this flower their home - so tiny that they could easily wriggle between the tiny florets. To these insects I guess this flower is their entire world.

sadly I feel some musicians feel the same way about making music.
"must put out more music more often"
Daniel Ek stating that musicians should release at least two albums a year. And then Spotify change their rules to not pay tracks with less than 1000 streams in the past 12 months. Suddenly having lots of music that get little plays each is very unhelpful to the musician (or their label)

Whilst in Poland this summer, I spent some time outside taking ultramacro shots of interesting rock surfaces. As always with ultramacro the difficulty was in getting things in focus, but I found an ultra close look at these rock surfaces to be fascinating

I was also pretty curious about the Open Library system, which I think works a similar way (tracking what you've read). In fact I think Bookwyrm gets it's book data from Open Library, which is run by Archive.org I think. They seem to be a good bunch

heh, I too was weirdly surprised when I discovered that I could tag WAV files with all the ID3 tags I've been using for years on FLAC, Mp3 and OGG files.
Not sure why I thought WAV would be any different 😁

I stopped using goodreads some time ago (trying to have nothing to do with amazon), and have intended to set up a bookwyrm account for some time but never got around to it. I really wanted to start self hosting these things but never have the time to sort it out.
