Have you ever tried Gaza-style vermicelli?
It’s very simple, but it gives warmth and the feeling of old family gatherings.
It made me feel like I was sitting in my warm home, not in a cold tent.
We gathered around it, cooked it over a wood fire, and for a moment felt the warmth amidst all the cold and wind around us.

Like every year, I sit down and remember what we did, what we accomplished, and the nice things that happened during the year!

Our tent has become colder than a freezer… if we put food inside, it would freeze before we even reach the fire.
The cold here doesn’t just pass… it seeps into our bones while we try to cover our children with anything we find..

Tomorrow is Youssef’s birthday 🎂
Not his first birthday,

His first two birthdays were spent displaced,

He learned to crawl, walk, and speak

I posted this two days ago, then disappeared because the internet stopped due to heavy rain.
My tent flooded,

Just one day before the war…😔
On Friday, October 6, Osama’s grandfather brought him a gift he had been dreaming of — a brand-new scooter.
He spent the whole day riding it around the house, laughing, singing, and trying every move he had ever seen in videos.

I’m still afraid.
When I hear loud noise in the street, my heart tightens — for a moment I think it’s a funeral.
When a car speeds by, I feel like it’s a missile coming toward us, and I cover my ears.
When something falls and makes a loud sound, my heart races — it feels like an explosion.
And when my children step outside the tent… I get scared.
Scared of bombing, of noise, of loss — of everything that could happen in a second.
I’m still afraid…
We haven’t moved on, and maybe we never will.

Of course, I hope they never feel the suffering we or our children have endured. I wish for peace for all of us.
But we also need real, tangible support. I feel guilty as a mother for not being able to warm my children, enroll them in kindergarten, or even give them chocolate.
