I can see why you thought that. I understood the term wog commonly to refer to southern Europeans like Italians etc., but also expandable to the Mediterranean in general, and a quick Google search will confirm that for you. With such an ambiguous meaning it is perhaps a good idea to use other words if other demographics are meant.
