Wow.
I guess I'm just not returning enough power to the Matrix via my own wrist.

Dang! Cellular? (I need to be able to go places without my phone) And I take it you turned off lift to wake, which basically disables the ability to do anything one-handed? I did that in the last few months of my old watch's life, but even though I do have full use of both hands, I don't like having to reach for my watch all the time.

I confess I didn't look into battery replacement when I replaced my watch last week. I take it, it makes monetary sense? Or can you get three or four years out of a watch battery, and in that case how??? I'll be replacing the battery in my iPhone 13 Mini soon, since nobody makes a phone smaller than a cybertruck these days.

Yes! Which is why both major parties oppose RCV with all their strength, more than they oppose each other.

And we also need to repeal all the laws that make it much harder for someone to get onto the ballot without the sanction of one of two major parties.
To form a new party in Ohio, they'd need to submit over 41,000 signatures supporting the new party.
To run as an independent, a candidate has to submit at least 5 times or up to 60 times, depending on office, the number of signatures as a major party candidate does.

Hey #Ohio and nearby #gardeners
Have you planted beans yet? Did they germinate?
I just don't think the soil is warm enough yet, it's supposed to be in the 40s for another two nights.
I've replaced beans later than this after groundhogs ate my entire crop of sprouts ... but I'd like to have an opportunity to do that again JIC

I wonder if even this is something we'll be going back on. It's in living memory that people *were* forced to use their right hands for everything, usually by corporal punishment as well as ostracization. With the range of "acceptable" bodies reverting to white, male and abled, I wouldn't be surprised to find right-handedness on the list sooner than later.

From the American Immigration Lawyers Association: "You may refuse to show identity documents that
say what country you are from.
• Do not show any false documents and do not lie"
The link is to an English language .pdf. They also have editable Word documents in English and Spanish. I'm getting the ACLU's similar flyer translated into Nepali for our immigrant community here, and I'm happy to share if anyone wants a Nepali version. https://www.acluwv.org/en/know-your-rights-immigrants-encountering-police-or-ice

Good! Plus the knowledge of how to dilute bleach, and not use more than needed (which is also often more than is safe). https://www.cdc.gov/hygiene/about/cleaning-and-disinfecting-with-bleach.html

Water storage and purification ... and a camp toilet and kitty litter that lets you dispose of everything as solid waste. When the grid goes down, so do the sewage pump stations, and you won't want to waste water on flushing anyway.

NYPL §125.25:
"A person is guilty of murder in the second degree when: ...
"2. Under circumstances evincing a depraved indifference to human life, he recklessly engages in conduct which creates a grave risk of death to another person, and thereby causes the death of another person."

That's a circular definition. The circumstances under which murder can be prosecuted as a federal crime are pretty limited, and don't include this.
Under New York state law, a CEO of a health insurance company has committed second degree murder - probably tens of thousands of counts.

What's your advice to folx who've been putting all our time and energy (and money) into Democratic campaigns? Is electoralism dead? Or is there a point to keeping on with 2025 because the municipalities and townships will either be the brownshirts' first line of offense, or important allies in resistance?

As pointed out below, a majority of Ohioans are "something else," just because of the way our system works. Technically we have Schrödinger's party affiliation: a voter is a member of EVERY political party until they choose one by voting in a primary (and the affiliation only lasts two years). Because most people don't vote in primaries, most Ohio voters are Unaffiliated, even though most of those have strong partisan leanings.

I think Kim Stanley Robinson had it right in "The Ministry for the Future." If I'm remembering right, his number is bigger than anything in your poll. It's hands down the most *hopeful* climate fiction I've read - because it posits that there is such a number, at all.
