With the arrival of https://www.subvert.fm the list of artist-driven music platforms has become even longer. Managing a presence across all these platforms is, if not a full time job, at least a full-time distraction from actually creating music.
Perhaps what we need is to agree on an API that makes artist music data available across all these platforms and on personal sites?

Amen to the latter. I was music director for a local choir of older women, none of whom had formal musical training, but all of whom had been in the choir long enough to develop a musical vocabulary we could work within. I don't find that anywhere else anymore.
