We've got progress towards a VS Code extension! 🥳 (Or in my case VSCodium)
Here I've got the kanban stuff saving to a markdown file, Yay data persistence!
There's still plenty to learn with VS Code extensions though, especially if I want to implement links (click from kanban direct to a file + linenumber), or respecting a users applied theme.

I love that every time I step outside I discover something new! today it was (what I believe to be) a Spotted Red Resin Bee.
It was very quick and difficult to photo 🐝 It had a lovely fuzzy stripped abdomen, but when it rested the wings were closed so I couldn't quite capture it.
Submitted to iNaturalist where hopefully some folks can confirm what type of bee it is ☺️

Probably time I close my Etsy shop... I say as they want me to pay another monthly fee for my listings while I've have zero sales in months.
As everything is digital stuff anyway, I'm sure there are much better options for selling such things. Kofi looked good last time I checked.
I've not been actively working on the project so it's my own fault there are no sales. But continuing to pay a fee at this stage seems pointless.

aha yeah 😅 Going to just be slow and steady when it comes to adding new stuff or even updating.
I used to think I should update on the regular but maybe that's not the right approach (for NPM anyway) 🤷 Update at the wrong time and bam, here's a trojan as a treat lol.

I never felt I've gone overboard getting packages, but the dependencies to what few things I do end up getting, that's where I gets a bit messy.
I tried to do some digging and found for one project I had an old 11ty (1.0.2), where axios had been a non-direct dep

just the idea that running npm install at the wrong time could introduce such a thing is a worry - but I'll for sure try to stay more vigilant about it all, thanks 🙏

Thanks for the wisdom!
The axios I have here, I didn't explicitly install, they were dependencies.
They're all in 11ty projects though I'm not sure even that's the link - perhaps a plugin I kept using? I'll need to do some digging to understand what was bringing it in.
Axios aside, it's the steps I should take to harden myself against future issues that I need to focus on for sure.

So I guess I have some learning to do about this recent supply chain attack and npm stuff 👀
No recent project I'm working on has Axios as a dependency, these in the screenshot are old. But it's time I understood a bit more on how to stay safe. Open to any wisdom!

I realised I never posted the image / advent calendar we made last year that inspired this project, so, for context:
We made this last year for our board game project @npub1jvz…003u
Where we had a different game to play each day.
I thought it could be cool to make a web tool so anyone can create one.
The goal is to provide three files, base layer, top layer, and then a cut layer SVG should folks have a Cricut or similar, and want to machine cut the windows like we did ☺️

Now with the ability to drag & drop images 🥳 Here's a quick test with one I found on Unsplash.
So far it's just HTML, CSS, JS, and SVG. Once I have the SVG elements syncing across sheets (and different layouts, including the option to manually place) I'll add IndexedDB for some data persistence.

I ended up trying idb first 😅 but dexie is still on the cards! But for now will focus on adding some other features in :) I'm sure it'll be easy enough to switch between the two now I have IndexedDB working to some degree.

Weekend project sorted! I'll need a grid with a minimum of 6 columns, Dexie.js to do IndexedDB stuff (never done it before, I hear Dexie makes it painless?), and possibly GSAP for a bit of whimsy.

Glad I found GoodTasks in one last (lol, it was never going to be the last) search.
It's like a layer on top of the stock Reminders app, and solves every gripe I had with it. Takes a bit of setup to get going as it's so customizable, but so far so good.

It's the good beans that I visit either platform for tbh :) Some left Masto, some stayed - I like to see what folks are sharing and interact too.
I also enjoy it for our board game project, and have found it much more lively, with many publishers, designers, and artists :) (I still cross-post to both places 💜)

I always experience a bit of awkwardness when following someone on both Bluesky and Mastodon.
Do I like on both platforms? Should I favour one over the other? What if I like today on Mastodon, and tomorrow on Bluesky.

If that's sarcasm then, fair 😅 My complaining is trivial and not a big deal of course.
Found it a bit bizarre how someone in such a creative field would want to dive right into wanting to generate images.
Of course, the good chunk of $$$ from Artlist who sponsored him for that video played a part.
But ah well, It leaves space for me to find another channel that better aligns with my values.

I've given a bit of a try and like it so far - though I have one where random articles seem to get forced into web-view rather than reader mode, which I find a bit annoying.
A bug perhaps, because the same article in another app (NetNewsWire) displays as expected.

I've lost my way with RSS again 😭
I'd been using Reeder for a bit and I liked it, I think I still do? I just don't find myself opening the app anymore (on desktop or mobile)

Very good point 😊 Considering I've watched this crash course on how to set one up, and I already picked up a VPS due to my Coolify experiment the past weekend, I think I'll see how this goes first 😊

Thanks for the tip about Umami! Their lab guides are really cool and it's nice they provide it.
Really torn between these two options now 😅 I am technically curious I think and so the appeal of Heztner + Caddy is there.
sidenote: I see Uberspace is switching to Caddy for their V8 which is neat.
But I also want to focus on dev... not too much server management. With static site dev though, I feel it might not be *too* bad to self-host.

Right now my needs are
- 3 static sites to host (soon); these are personal projects.
- Future client sites (I'd love to get some soon 😅) for which I think they'll all be static too (11ty)
- And I'd love to get something like Umami for analytics, also on the same server I guess.
To avoid service degradation I'd like to keep building of the static sites off of the server, and just have them serve the built files.

I'm heavily considering a VPS (Hetzner) + Caddy, with GitHub Actions to build and send the files over for hosting. This takes me well into the nitty-gritty territory but I feel like it's slowly sinking in.
I need to do a proper comparison to Uberspace too, I think I've got that in equal consideration.

I see in the docs it's not recommended to host multiple sites - Do you know if that warning would count for all kinds of sites or just ones that require backend tech to run?
I'm mostly interested in running / serving up 11ty static sites, built from GitHub. But unsure if with them I should get an account for each site/client 🤔

Oh cool! It feels like it's too deep into the nitty gritty but also something I feel I should probably learn (One of the few factors why I wanted to shift away from Netlify / "serverless")

Out here stressing over where to build and deploy my #11ty sites 😩
I tried Coolify and... I think I don't want to do the self-hosting thing. But Coolify Cloud is an option 🤔
Also looking at server management tools like Ploi, or Cleavr. Both require me to provide my own server (I'd use Hetzner)
There is also Cloudflare Pages, but I'm coming away from Netlify, and this seems to be the same kind of thing.

I tested it before and it first showed me data for May, Episode 24, while opening on iOS and trying to add to Apple Calendar.
On that same page I was trying to add the new entry (when the old one showed) it had a delete button.
After clicking that, and then trying to add the event again, it had the correct data.
If you've added an event in the past, as I had - I think it was a bug in our calendars 🤔 The .ics file itself shows correct data too.

Oh god the distro hopping! ahaha - Such a headache and yet so fun at the same time.
I remember trying a bunch, Ubuntu, Mint, CrunchBang (My favorite for a while, not sure if it's still active?), Arch.
Printer drivers, graphic drivers, wifi drivers, just lots and lots of things breaking or needing a bunch of time in the CLI to fix (for me). But when it worked, it WORKED 👌
When I have the time and the funds, I want to grab an old Lenovo and load it with Linux :) Good old days indeed.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised with it - It's a bit finicky to setup, and you still have some small annoyances (Like limited background color, or getting a flash of the app/shortcuts thing that will open the app you're trying to get into) but for what it is, I'm happy.
I did plenty of Android customization back in the day too! I miss it sometimes just for how flexible is could be, even if getting CyanogenMod onto the thing was a nerve-racking experience 😅

A few weeks back I removed all but the most important notifications from my phone (No counts on the icons either)
Then I learned about the dumb phone concept 👀 but rather than get a new device ($$) I found I could give my current iPhone a stripped down look via a widget!

ahah ohh yeah I am well over the many Guru's out there just showing workflow after workflow. I fell into the trap of watching those at first.
I think I'm beyond thinking I need to take notes just for the sake of it too... hopefully.
It's just I have no structured plan going on at the moment and I desperately need something, especially as freelance.
I've tried pen and paper, tried Todoist, Reminders, Tick Tick, Goodnotes. I really hope I can make Obsidian click for me, for that task.

I have been giving the kanban plugin a go for my larger projects (such as a website dev) and quite liking that; even have a template file now for future projects with all my usual pre-launch checklists and columns set how I like 👌
I am going to give the daily note thing a try for a while, see if it works. Trying to write in one right now actually before sleep - not feeling it, but I'm trying!

I just installed it now for Calc (their spreadsheet app) and so far it's handling everything I'm chucking at it. Bonus as it's got a nice customisable UI and proper dark mode too (Yes, even the cells 🥳)

Certainly a bit sus. They followed me too but I didn't follow back.
Reminds me a bit of another account that does this "follow spam" tactic.
They'll mass follow people, and unfollow once you've followed them back.
Loads of folk wouldn't notice and they've just inflated their follow number. Because they think it makes them look cool or something 🤷

An excellent use-case!
I gave it a try real quick on a WIP recipe site which generates a base64 encoded .png for the QR code.
Scaled up the QR code 20x, threw on this property, and we got perfect, crisp edges 👌

TIL about CSS image-rendering: pixelated;
Allowing pixel art to scale up to any size and not look bad.
On / Off comparison for increasing scale 32px, 64px, 128px, and 256px.
