Got some devastating news about our gorgeous cat last Mona last night. She’s got a cancerous lump which means she may not last more than 2 months, depending on which level of seriously invasive treatment options we go for, if at all.
She’s an absolute knobhead, but I do love her- she’s been nothing but the most patient and gentle pet to the kids, and able absolute twat to all the grown ups. Wouldn’t have her any other way.

Upgraded to Liquid Ass™️ iOS update. Honestly, looks great (for now) but now there is the return ONCE AGAIN of “noise level” notifications, reminding me that I really should lower the volume in order to protect my hearing and save the children (probably). There’s no way to turn these off currently, it seems.

I’ve just had to pick up my 8yr son from a sleepover at his friend’s house early because he was upset, as a result of said friends’ parents being ok with their son having unsupervised access to a tablet & Youtube. For real though, I’m quite fulfilled between EA WRC and BeamNG for my rally needs (though I really should check out Richard Burns Rally, they just released a major overhaul update)

You know how I bang on about BeamNG.Drive becoming the best driving/racing/rally simulator on the market? This video just proves it. They’re doing physical, real world testing and research into tyre physics.
Oh, and the game costs £20. No paywalls, no DLC and a thriving mod community.

Massive thanks to everyone who joined me on last night's stream! I genuinely had a great laugh chatting to you all while I crashed the hell out of everything.
Onto the review side of it, BeamNG.Drive Rally is up there with one of the best rally experiences you can have in today's day and age. The *only* few things that hold it back currently are two things in my opinion:
**1.** There aren't any official cars. All the cars are generically branded and (petrolheads may get me on this) engine sounds are ficitional. However, they are still hecking great fun and this doesn't take away too much from the experience.
**2.** This is not a fault or a bug, but there aren't enough variation in rally stages yet. Given that it is still early release, there are only a few stages to choose from, with only 2 out of 9 being gravel/mud. However, the ones that are available to choose from are brilliantly good fun.
The rally mod strikes that balance perfectly in that because of the realistic physics and damage model, you really connect with the car and stages you're driving because you are fearful of trying anything extreme- though if you do try something wild and it pays off, the feeling of accomplishment is an awesome one.
Best of all? The game is only £20 ish. Hands down the BEST value for money driving game you can get available today and this is a hill I'll happily die on.
Bravo BeamNG devs, bravo.

In response to the linked post here: if you think Dexter was all cute and adorable, think again.
Picture this, I’m out on a bike ride round a lovely lake with my 2yr old in her seat on the bike with me. The sun is shining, there are blue skies and families soaking it all in. One such family are having their photo by the lake taken by their dad- the mum is happy and the kids are hugging her tight with beaming smiles as dad lines up the photo.
In comes Dexter to land, right in between them with urgency and zero hesitation and proceeds to do the splattiest, most violent poo he’s ever done.
I rode past as if I don’t even have a dog. I couldn’t have picked it up, it would just be like trying to pick up soup. I couldn’t have ever recovered from that. It was too far gone.

BeamNG- true, but currently the *one* thing you don't get with BeamNG is actual rally cars and accurately recreated engine sounds/behaviours that are perfect for immersion.
I had a love hate relationship with DR2, I think it sat a little too on the arcadey side for me- but still a very enjoyable game to rally in, you're right.
The tinkering is also what holds me back! Currently my free time is so limited that I want to be able to sit down and just game, and I don't have the spare time (yet) to spend an hour or two tinkering before I can play 🤣

I’m still pushing off this Windows 24H whatever it is that installs recall- but it gets more persistent and intrusive by the day. Honestly, I am **one** game away from going to Linux, and that is EA WRC. It’s my most played sim racing game that currently doesn’t work on Linux due to anti cheat.
I have hope that one day the anti cheat is removed. But it is EA, so that hope is quickly shattered.

Yeah I’ll be interested to see what they do with it, but I genuinely think if they’d made a bigger deal of innie Mark sacrificing himself for outie so that he and Gemma could be together would have made it a genuinely satisfying end that was worth all the filler- they could have still done a series 3 along the lines of your thinking, the downfall of Lumon spearheaded by Mark and Gemma!
