One of the funniest things about Jagger around this time of year as the snow was melting off was the way he would desperately hold on to his beloved snow: about this time six years ago he desperately clung to the last remnant on deck. The latest book by my Iraq battle buddy and roommate, Fred Minnick. I’d gotten word today there’s a couple pages where I’m a part of his story. I called him and he read the pages in which he tells of one of our experiences having mortar rounds miss our quarters and then, unable to sleep, he opened a Listerine bottle full of whiskey he’d received in a care package, I grabbed a couple cigars and we sat outside in the area between the trailers we were in dubbed “NCO Alley.”

In the early 80s there was big demand in this part of Wisconsin for WC and WDs with the narrow front from guys who’d use em for stuff like clearing small lumber piles and so on; they preferred the narrow fronts for work in the woods because the wide fronts were a bitch in there. I actually sold a couple of kits to convert wide fronts to narrow on those tractors.

Well, funny you should mention that; on the OTHER side of my little “entertainment center” is a 1/16 scale Allis-Chalmers WD-45 narrow front tractor my folks got me before I moved to my first radio job in Nebraska in 1984. While I spent seven years at a Deere dealership in southeast Kansas in the 90s and into the early 2000s, when I was in high school, I worked in the parts department of a now since long defunct Allis-Massey Ferguson dealership and sold a shit ton of WD parts!

I didn’t watch the Super Bowl. Once Chicago was eliminated in the playoffs, I lost interest. Besides, for years, I haven’t been big on all the Super Bowl hype. That said, I was tracking the snowflake TPUSA counter halftime debacle and what apparently was a really well-received Bad Bunny performance along with Green Day’s pre-game show which made MAGA heads explode that much more. I’m glad the Santa Clara show turned out well and the message was outstanding and needed.
