Oh I don't think that is true but a lot of stuff happened in a progression over time. Like how there was technically TV made with mechanical scanning before the crt but in most ways it was nothing like how analog tv broadcast as we knew them worked.
About pixels & fonts: many early computers used storage CRT that were grids of pixels for data display and RAM at the same time. So odds are someone at some point put text on one. IMHO

Funny story the lab where I used to work had a hand in the start of the LINC and they were the last ones to operate a LINC.
Sadly I suspect it was not the first pixel font but I could be wrong. I joined decades after the last complete linc left. When I was there the spare parts and tapes were still laying around.

A little car only makes sense in a city where slow speeds are ok and crumple zones are not really a requirement. The thing is in those places public transport makes the most sense.

But what if we wanted to store a lot more power and not mess with a river at all?
Quabbin Reservoir was artificially built by flooding a town and it stores 1,560GL. Imagine how much you could store with that.

The thing you are missing is that dams don't need to be on rivers or indeed even connected to them. Northfield was built to store power for a now defunct nuclear plant (good riddance). They built it by hollowing out a mountain so they can pump river water up to store power & have it flow down to generate it. With their 21GL of water they store about double a nuclear plants output over a night filling in the duck curve.

The mistake they are making is in seeing the footprint near them vs the footprint somewhere else. NIMBYism once again burdening areas unequally.

The mistake isn't going with wind or solar. The problem is batteries have become a cult. Hydroelectric power is a much lower impact form of energy storage and it scales more sensibly than chemical batteries

I watched MIT & Harvard deaccession a lot of their journals because "pdf is good enough". Do any of the museums have an over abundance of physical space? The last time I went looking for the Boston Museum of Science Library it was as hidden as possible. Most members don't even know they have it. My experience of institutions suggests that means it's something they want to shrink.
Any word from Charles River Museum of Industry & Innovation?

Yes and that is the thing. While the paper in the hands of a museum might be more useful than a file online the massive central library is useful to the most people. I don't like risking everything on the future of one institution especially in this climate. I also had no idea the internet archive also stored physical stuff. However, I am well aware no one can match them technically & everyone knows to look there.
