My problem is really with the concept of content. It tries to fit everything into a system where value is all about money. So I try to avoid using the term on creations that are not art. For instance, I'd rather call a TV show "entertainment" than "content". Calling it "content" feeds into the system that tells ut that the valuable thing is the platform. It is perpetuates the point of view of those who own the platforms, and minimizes the non-monetary value of what people create.

Content implies a container. And that is the point of the "content creator": to fill up billionaire owned containers so their container can be rented out at a higher price.

Getting legit subscribers with corporate email accounts sounds like something that would be more likely for Mustics™ though.

Should anyone want to sign up (regardless of corporate email addresses), you can do it here: https://defaultmediatransmitter.com
Or follow the site from fedi at [@index](https://defaultmediatransmitter.com/ )

Been getting a steady flow of 1 new member on my ghost site every other day. All of them (except one) has a corporate looking email address. I'll delete them, as they're obviously bots looking for a way to comment with spam links. There goes half of my ghost members...
So, if you have a corporate looking email address and signed up for my site: I'm sorry if I deleted your account. Just sign up again, and maybe let me now about it here too, so it doesn't happen again.

Your blog is now in my RSS reader🎉 And I read your first post too. I just want to say that your 2025 list in that post is impressive. And I think the internet troll eyes you're looking through may be Synergy Myers'.
Just picking out two points: live streams and the gravitons festival. These are so much better than putting out "content". You're building community by having a bunch of weirdos (and non-weirdos?) hanging out talking about gay condors etc. And that has immense value.

Apart from self-hosted and federated, an improvement I would like in a scrobbler is to be able to sort by time listened. When only using play count, one of Mel's interludes (lasting only a few seconds) counts the same as an Autechre live recording (lasting 1 hour +). @npub1mh9…vgm4 @npub1ry8…u8nh @npub1nuu…gjr3

So who did I listen to last year? Here's my top ten list from listenbrainz. How to get on this list:
- Make good music that fits my taste. (Seems like @npub1ry8…u8nh has mastered this skill)
- Make sure your tracks are short and many. (This won't work without also matching the previous point. See @npub1mh9…vgm4 and @npub1nuu…gjr3 for examples of how to do this)
- Be on the fediverse (Like over 50% of this list)

I think most of my mutuals here are aware of this by now. But in case someone hasn't been paying attention, there's a release party stream tonight for @npub1rxc…f74n's new tune, CLONK. I'll be there, and so will my remix of CLONK. I suggest doing sudo apt-mark hold wine (or wine-staging if that's what you have installed) when you've got it working. This will keep it on the version it's at. You can then do unhold if you need to upgrade it.
Also, make a backup of the ~/.wine directory, especially if you've set up iLok.

The Norwegian GEMA (called TONO) is responsible for distributing money to the music industry (not the artists). I don't know if anything's changed since I looked into it many years ago, but if you self publish, they classify your release as a "demo", and you won't get money from them.
So, in effect, if you rent a venue and play a show with your own music, you must pay a fee, collected by the police(!), which they will distribute to the big labels.

I have a new track premiering tonight on the #bonkwave listening party. I've been told that it's #techno and thus #NotBonkwave, opening up an entirely new field of research into whether something can be both #techno and #bonkwave. Come to the release party and let your thoughts on the matter be known in the chat.
