The point is not exactly that Google AI gives good results (if it only gave plainly bad results you wouldn't use it), it's how they're coopting the good information people actually create and pocketing the difference. That, in the end, makes creators like Stefano leave. And then, you don't have any more good results, but that's a problem for the future and present day Google doesn't care while line still go up. @npub1ef5…gcpc

I don't want to sound like I'm explaining this to you because telling this to a comics artist is embarrassing, I'm just telling what I notice at a glance as a comics reader:
that page looks *wrong*. The two characters are open-mouthed and excited looking *away* from the thing they mention. The third panel contains nothing relevant. The last two panels are absurd, in part because that's manga-style and I'm trying to read them right-to-left.

there are other little tricks. For example, as described in the bialetti moka manual, if you're serving multiple cups from a moka pot, it's good to stir the coffee in the pot to mix it well before serving.

2026-02-20 13:13:33 UTC

- reply

The things you can do with a Moka pot are:
- using better coffee
- finding the right temperature to avoid burning said coffee.
That's it.
I'm sorry... This looks like I'm explaining it to you, and I'm not trying to. I'm just still angry about those videos.

2026-02-20 12:03:59 UTC

- reply

There's a different problem here. Your taste buds can certainly notice the difference between a moka cup and an espresso cup. It's not hard. Espresso is really much better. A moka pot is a compromise. A very good compromise, but a compromise.
But what you can do is either just be content with your moka pot or go to a café and ask a barista for your espresso doppio con un cornetto.

Seriously, don't just put the moka pot's water compartment on heat and then handle it when the water is about to boil. Realize how stupid that sentence sounds.

2026-02-19 21:34:56 UTC

Today makes another time I've seen instructions for making coffee in a moka pot as follows:
- first heat the water in the water compartment, open (up to just below the valve)
- then add the filter with the coffee and close the moka pot and let brew
And this is asinine. It's unsafe. You'll get burned. Just put the water in the pot, the filter, close the pot and heat on medium until it starts bubbling up. It's a moka pot. Don't be a pretentious jackass.

Hay preposiciones en español como "ante" que tienden a usarse ya en un contexto más formal, como la frase "ante esta situación", y no tanto en una conversación cotidiana. Pero eso dudo que dependa de la influencia del italiano.

No creo, no creo.

2025-09-30 21:41:52 UTC

Italiano: "di, a, da, in, con, su, per, fra, tra"

I've seen the news of a successful treatment of Huntington's described as "a miracle" and it really, really annoys me to see the work of years described as "a miracle". It's not a miracle. People busted their ass for ages, possibly overworked, possibly underpaid. Undergrads and grads toiled in labs at unholy hours on weekends. It's not a miracle. I don't even want to say "It's science" because it's not about the scientific method (ok, it is in this case, but), it's about the very hard work.

- reply

If bosses started to say "yeah we don't need you, we just bought this table saw", yeah, I'd probably change careers.
Edit: I don't really know if I dislike this metaphor more because it belittles junior devs who suddenly face head winds in this economy, or because it belittles every ethical qualm one could possibly have against LLMs.
