Hello! I'm Kattni. I am a creator, maker, photographer, intermittent chef, air plant cultivator, and fledgling synth nerd. I am passionate about learning, mentoring, community, and sharing my knowledge. I am tolerated by one cat and three kittens who continue to let me live with them.

Hello, all! For various reasons (which I'm happy to elaborate on), I'm writing a blog post on conference sprints, and I'd like your help. I'm aiming this at everyone - folks who might want to attend, but aren't sure what they're getting into, folks who want to get more out of sprints, and folks who want to run their own sprint.
I'm looking for answers to the following.<li>How would you describe development sprints?</li><li>If you attend, what do you get out of sprints? What are your goals heading into them? How do you decide what what project to join or what to work on? How long do you usually stay? What about attending sprints has worked for you and what hasn't? What are some examples of positive experiences you've had, and what are some negative ones? Do you have any advice for a first-time participant?</li><li>If you've hosted a sprint, how did it go? What went well and what didn't? What would you do the same or differently? What experience level were you aiming for? Do you have any advice for a first-time host?</li>
Answer as little or as much as you'd like, and include anything beyond this you feel is relevant.

I read a take on it, that it's about a bunch of people practicing witchcraft ("the mood is right, the spirit's up, we're here tonight, and that's enough") and then someone else walks in (loudly, "SIMPLY HAVING A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS TIME"). And now I can't unhear it. It's still terrible. But at least I can snicker a little. That said, I'm not hearing it at every rest stop because I'm not travelling.

I start up a separate shell for tutorial screenshots etc to get around Starship looking different. Also possible, you could have two config files, and swap between them.
I'm happy to share my config file with you as well if you want someplace to start.

We did the same. I initially thought about having Habitat for Humanity pick it up, but it's too old. So the installers will take it when they leave.

My housemate's brother replaced theirs with a combo unit - that's how we ended up with a better washer. They're really happy with it. But I get the not wanting to spend as much. I thought about stacking, but ultimately the hookups in the basement are separated enough that it would take shenanigans to move either machine. It's annoying because I can't reach the dryer from the washer, so moving between them is more effort. To fix that, though, we would have to pay sometime to come in and move the gas hookup. We might still do that but not this week, anyway. I saved $250+ on mine, but installation was not free. Still, we got 24 months 0% interest on the whole deal, so it was worth it. Installation was only $20 anyway.

This reminded me I wanted a new dryer that can dry as much as our new washer can wash, because it definitely can't currently. We have gas though, so my purchase today can't help you. Turns out there's big sales this weekend, which if you hadn't noticed, might be helpful to you.
