@nprofile…jq0t I haven’t tried Brave for a while. I used to DDG but the results were terrible. SearXNG was pretty good as it aggregated results from all search engines.

Is there a good alternative way to watch YouTube without ads? My student discount for YT Premium is about to end and while I love having no ads, I'd prefer to spend that money on directly supporting creators through Patreon instead of paying YT directly.
Some of the self hosted options look promising, but it does appear that YT is blocking them.

It has been almost a year since I switched from #iOS to #Android. In that year, I have not missed my iPhone much at all. If you're not 100% dependent on the Apple ecosystem, it's entirely possible to switch and have an enjoyable experience.

@npub1l3g…vu48 Yeah I think that when you log into GSF, it shares that login info with the other Google apps. The main difference is that Google does not have root access to your phone and there's limited telemetry since GSF is sandboxed.
Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with MicroG so I can't really provide much context into that.

@npub1l3g…vu48 I mean stock Android would have no Google Play Services. On typical Android Google Play Services has basically root access to the phone. On GrapheneOS, it's in a sandboxed environment with no special privileges to the OS:

@npub1l3g…vu48 @npub1m0z…lfl7 The main benefit is being able to limit what GPS can touch on your phone. Instead of it being the backbone of Android, it is a mere compatibility layer.
One thing I love about #GrapheneOS is the ability to explicitly limit what these services have permissions to.
