I've added a link. You didn't provide "the meat of that story", though - you provided resolutions and iframe confirmation (which is specified in the docs anyway). Everything else in that piece is my own research; I asked you a few specific questions over Signal and you ignored them, so :shrug:

A sneak peek at a techy thing: how Apple Podcasts HLS streams work.

Of note - advertisers *can* require their ads not to be skippable, according to the spec. But we don't know whether Apple Podcasts is going to honour that.

What I *love* about Podcasting 2.0 is the capacity everyone has of saying "Oh, no, there must be a way to make this *MORE* complicated and harder to develop for."
Followed three years later with "Why is nobody supporting this tag?"

I believe an exception here - with a faux content-type - should be considered. Agree, it isn’t an “enclosure” and is a horrible kludge; but it is an “alternate place to get this media”.

I think this is fine, with the exception of the content type maybe. Chucking a YouTube link in there should be just fine. But that's not in the specification; and perhaps it should be.

Downloading all the logs. And this (the Apache error log) might explain something going on - at 03:58, suddenly everything just stops running; followed by at 04:06, a different set of errors.
Looks like this is being kicked off by a set of resized image requests, which fail with a 503 error.
(All IP addresses here are Cloudfront, by the way).

I can update my entire website without killing my origin server (because it's entirely flat-files), unlike Podnews, where the cache will live on for some time.

See that big logo soup at the bottom of Podnews.net ? Is there a “better” way of doing that that doesn’t require x100 different image calls? Needs to be responsive, and all images should be clickable.
I had considered a script that made one large image, and then cut it up somehow using backgrounds? Seems kludgy. Or perhaps simpler - one large image (but a few different sizes for screens)? How would you approach it?

Well, again, the difference between Safari and those other browsers is night and day for privacy. To claim it’s just “the same shit in a different package” is nonsense, really.
Now - are there better, more secure browsers? Yep. But is Safari significantly better than Chrome or Edge? Yep.

Safari uses webkit internally as a rendering engine.
Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, etc, all use blink internally as a rendering engine.
(Unless you’re on iOS, in which case, Safari runs everything).
So it’s not entirely true, boringly, to suggest that Safari and Edge “the same shit in a different marketing package”. True for Edge vs Chrome; but not true for Safari.
Unless, of course, I’ve misunderstood your point.

Question, best-practice #ux #webdev #seo people.
A job ad that has closed. It's no longer linked from anywhere. The page still exists. I currently return the full text with an "HTTP 410 Gone" header, and an error that you can't apply any more.
Should this be an HTTP 200 OK response, rather than a 410 Gone? The page exists, after all. Wondering if too many 40x results is a bad thing.

Separated my business email from my personal email. Personal email now going nowhere near Google (at least, my @crid.land address is). Will be interesting to see what happens and whether it helps my horrible email inbox.
