I understand something like being lnaddress exclusive is going to be different than how things have been done before. But different payment options have been available since the creation of the valueBlock. At any point, someone could've decided to use Hive or Monero as their payment protocol. Any podcaster choosing that payment method would not be able to receive value from some apps, or the app would've had to build for a different payment type. lnaddress only is fundamentally no different.

I agree, we need to consolidate on a solution. I’ve said my piece about the direction this should go, which is a meta server url in the feed to send the data to, but I don’t want to get involved in any more in fighting. We’ve stagnated because nobody can agree on anything any more, and we’ve already started splintering. Whatever everyone decides on, I’ll start sending the metadata for lnaddress there.

We just stress tested The Split Box. It was able to support the Satellite Spotlight, an event that sent 2.2 million sats worth of boosts, 1.2 million of them being through TSB.
The means the listener was able to scan a QR code from the wallet of their choice, and over 20 splits were handled on the backend.
This means you can paste your QR code on fliers, merch, the drumkit, and your fans can boost from the wallet of their choosing and each band member gets their split.

I've been working on an idea that involves putting a hash and signature in your feed to verify ownership and authenticity, so you can have your feed hosted on multiple servers, and the host can know it's from you, and the apps can know it wasn't tampered with.

A little devil's advocate... I've seen people spend more on a six pack they'll piss out the next morning, a lotto ticket they'll most likely lose, or a fast food meal they'll shit out tomorrow.
If you want to see if running your own node is right for you, I can think of worse ways to spend the $21 bucks for three months to see if this is something you may want to continue paying for. Or you may find out how easy it is and put it on your own hardware... for free.

Just need a tag in the feed with the nostr message id and a list of known nostr servers that store the feed. We keep the underlying structure, just add a new delivery mechanism that has some built in redundancy. When I publish the feed, I just have my feed server store it like it always has, but then sign a message and broadcast it to all the nostr relays so they know I've given their server permission to update my feed.

So, the thing with your solution using boostCallback is it requires wallet holders (you know, the ones that can create lightning invoices, which need a preimage to work) to support the boostCallback. You're willing to be a wallet holder is seems, so you can support it and generate invoices for the wallets you hold. But you're creating a solution in which all the other potential wallet holders have to now support boostCallback. They don't support keysend, why do you think they'll support this?

If your app generates the hash for a lighting bolt payment to my wallet, what does your app do with the preimage, because my wallet needs it to verify the hash? How does my wallet get it from your app?

The API keys for all accounts is where they get a unique secret that they can use to allow access to the account, sort of like how a CDN can give you a key to allow programmatically uploading files to your server.. I think that might be doable, but the listener would have to set up the API permission, trust the app to store them safely, then provide them to the app to allow control of their account.
It doesn't come across as a particularly easy or secure solution.

Looking into this, all accounts do have API keys, but those keys are different than the developer keys an app would need to implement easy oAuth and payments on the listeners behalf.

I'm doing it at Adam's request. It's an option in SF, they can switch between keysend or lnaddress, but not both. So it will only break change a feed if a podcaster toggles the lnaddress option, so they really get to decide the timeline of their migration. And I don't mind putting in both, I just don't know what that works and I'm not sure any of the apps are set up to handle both. CC will probably break because I just assumed a feed had one option.

Dude, I think you're confused. Nobody is talking about checking RSS feeds for LNAdresses. They're talking about checking the /well-known/ route for each of the splits found in YOUR RSS feed for determining the address of the split.

I'm looking at the current spec for the lightning address, and reading through the discussion. I'm a little confused.
If I'm parsing a feed and in the value block come across dave@jones.com, I think the spec is saying I send a GET request to `https://jones.com/.well-known/lnurlp/dave/options`
What's confusing me is the /lnurlp/ That's one of the options that can be returned, but keysend is also one of the options. Is the lnurlp path in the url correct even if the only option for an address is keysend?

For SF, until January, I'm going to have the option to use keysend or lnaddress in your feed, but not both. That means if you choose to use lnaddress, you won't be getting sats from apps that don't support it yet, but it does get feeds out there that use lnaddress that the apps can start building to.
Unless there's a way to have both in the feed and for it to make sense, but if there is, I'm not currently understanding it.

Although I agree with this, I wonder what we do if nobody else supports keysend.
Let's imagine we don't have keysend (either it never existed or nobody supports it anymore), how can we accomplish our goals with the tools we have?
As much I as like how we've been doing things, the wallet builders have a big say in the direction things go, and we have to be flexible with that direction.

Honestly, the underlying structure is unimportant to me, the ability to do splits is, and the being able to get the metadata from the TLV to the podcaster is. The metadata is easily solved with another tag with a url the apps can send the data to.

Can something similar to the TLV record be sent to the api when requesting the invoice and the api handles the data and returns the invoice and when the invoice is paid is there a record to tie the data received to the invoice sent/oaid?

I'm all about being self-sovereign. And you guys are even still offering to host nodes with Alby Cloud, it's just not free anymore, which I'm not sure it should be. There's a reason people don't host their own nodes and you make that easier with Alby Cloud.
I don't necessarily think it's too expensive, but it may become so if it remains at 21K sats per month.

With Alby sunsetting their free wallet, and LNPay sunsetting their wallets a few years ago, I think we need to have a discussion about how to move away from hardcoding lightning address into the feed.
If I was a guest of a podcast and have a split, and then my address changes, the podcaster now has to update their feed to change my wallet. It's a hassle.

podcasts/bymedium?medium=music&val=lightning&max=1500
I changed the max to 1000 and to 100, and also removed the val=lightning, but same results each time. Right now the index is only returning 58 items. I'm also getting a lot of timing out with the request.

@npub1qf7…jj9d the way I'm handing it is this. If it's a fee, I don't care if it's a base or remote, I pull it out and don't apply any split percent. I figure fees are for things like stats. Then I pay the full amount to all fees. Then I apply the base/remote percent to the splits. I also have a rule that anything under 1 sat is dropped, so even a 1% fee won't see anything under a 100 sat payment.

Because listening to a song is a different experience than listening to a podcast, LNBeats is doing streaming payments differently. Instead of sending a payment once per minute, a payment can be sent once per song after the song ends.
If you don't like the song and hit next, no payment is sent, it's only after the song ends that determines if you send the value or not.

Music Side Project now has an in-app tutorial that walks you through hosting your album on your own WordPress server.
I use Hostinger, but anything like Dreamhost, a2hosting, or any other shared hosting platform will work.
I'm sure a lot of you may already have a WordPress site for something.
Sharing your music is really as easy as using Windows File Explorer to transfer your files on your desktop, and this tutorial walks you through it.
