I think this story maybe missing one very big reason #Europeans don't want to visit the #usa at the moment.
Of course there is some resentment, but there's a bigger portion of concern I think.
We don't feel as safe going through us airports as we used to.
I don't want to be treated like a suspect when I travel. In fact I won't put up with that.

I can see an idea I'm sure would never be used even though it makes sense.
Unlike most #copyright evasion, it's actually easy to measure the value #AI scrapers get. It's more of less the volume of #data they scrape.
That's fairly easy to measure so it should be easy to enforce if a very specific #law was drafted

I think the problem with diagnosing #dementia is one of degree.
I've no doubt my memory isn't as sharp now as it was five decades ago when I took most of my #exams.
However, my decline seems to be linear, with no obvious signs of asymtotic falls.
I haven't been tested, but I suspect my brain is just getting older at a normal rate.
More importantly, I have no difficulty dealing everyday life. I can still learn new things in time to adapt.
I think it must be that line that really matters, the crossover below which we start finding it hard to learn new things.
As long as we manage to stay above that line we're probably okay.
Physically I would say I am declining more than I expected and that's upsetting, but that's another story.

I don't think the #signalapp moment has arrived yet is all.
Up til now it's just worked for most people and it's always been honest about what it does.
Unlike many other similar centralised entities, they've never pretended to be decentralised in any way.
The moment might arrive if the #UK really does start a war on ##e2ee and #encrypted #messengers generally.
It will be easy for the government here to block #signalapp but relatively hard to block #apps like #matrix, #simplexchat and #xmpp.
Then people will start to see the difference in concrete.

What I'd say is this. The #fediverse is open to #apps of either kind adding what they want.
I don't know how you would give priority to low frequency posters without filling the top spots with every #introduction, but that aside almost any option is there.
I suggested some interstimg options I've found, but they are proliferating all the time.
I've seen people mentioning some really interesting forks of #misskey lately.
You just need to take the time, if you have it of course.

Well there is something you could do actually. You could use another part of the fediverse that has those features, I can't say off hand but #firefish and #qoto have a lot of tools #mastodon refuses to add. So does #misskey and most of its offshoots.
But it isn't built in to the #fediverse so people can choose to opt out or in as they wish.
I don't think it's like js obfuscation. I think it's more like Usenet where the feature was never there. No one is blocking access to it.

It's almost like the #fediverse wasn't designed to be scraped or tabulated or analysed in any consistent way.
I suppose there are counter questions though.
Is chaos actually the secret sauce that protects us against the marketers.
Is it the reason political agitators find it too much work to target us as groups.
Is the fact you have no idea how anything you post will be formatted for the end reader more of a protection than an an inconvenience?

So as a starting point you would expect users too choose a server that aligns with their worldview?
For example, it's no good joining the #piratenpartei server and then moaning they don't protect your #copyrght?
So would you expect your server to block them?
They are based carefully so they're breaking no #laws, based inside a #parliament building if I remember.

There are already servers with strict rules such as #journalists servers.

But who would you report a server like #misskeyio to?
I'm not quite sure what you're aiming for here but even if you could sell the idea to the #mastodon devs, how would you sell the idea to other types of instance.
As you can see, a whole lot of #fediverse users are based in #Japan and use #misskey #software.
They might well think, who made #mastodon the kings of Japan :)
I'm not offering an #opinion here except on the #feasibility of your idea.

This is what I'm saying. Some of the things that change the future from here on in probably won't involve collective action, so collective action won't stop them.
Individuals cant be socialist or capitalist, only groups or systems can. So almost by definition #biohacking is not fascist, is it?

I'm not sure left and right are such good guides to understanding people any more.
Example: are transhumanists left or right? Is artificial intelligence a free market goal? Is plutocracy still capitalism?
Gradually the world is bending away from the left right axis. Do you not think? Surey if having a left or right position doesn't give you the answer to modern questions, it's not a real position?

I think in a lot of cases, it's picking the least worst option.
That's the real problem with the left. They won't play clever.
The Right will play to win, so for example they'll shift on abortion or play it down.
They still want to ban it but for the right, winning is more important than anything else.
That's why they keep winning, single mindedness.

It was a great game and the truth is, there wasn't much in it. If #Russo hadn't fumbled in front of goal, it could have been different, but that can happen to anyone. It was just bad luck.
To be honest, I think we're past the point where women's football has anything left to prove. It's only the #pay that has to catch up now.
Having said that, I'm being very #Western there. It's clearly not good enough the way things are for the #African teams.

It's an interesting fact that £1.99 to £2.99 is the best bargain range on the store. Most of the #freebies are not very good - except for #classics.
I got a short #history of #ireland in that range last year. Having that that, the battery on my #kindle isn't what it used to be so I use the #library more these days.
Do #authors get something every time we borrow their #books? I thought I read they did, but it may be a #myth for all I know.

I do still use #Inkscape most recently to create a company logo. I've seen people do amazingly creative work with it though. My recipient liked my logos but they weren't art :)

I did find 39C uncomfortable, but that was the only time.
Maybe it was psychological, because 35C was okay and that's only 4C away :)
Side issue - there's no degree key on this mini keyboard. I never noticed that before. It's a tiny bit annoying.

I never really cared whether our species is the end of evolution or not. I'm not sure it really matters.
The idea we're the most advanced species the earth will ever produce is a sort of arrogance really.

I have to admit. I'm uneasy about any restrictions on protest. I can see the need for this, just as the UK Govt can see the need for climate protest restrictions around national infrastructure, but I'd really like different solutions in both cases.
