Uhhh...
(de "NS Metro i.p.v. trein" is erg vreemd, omdat metrolijn C gewoon zelf naar station Capelsebrug loopt. Die hele overstap op die zogenaamde NS metro is niet nodig. Het reisadvies is hier foutief en verwarrend.)

The #NezCasse locomotives from rail construction and maintenance companies #Strukton and #VolkerRail are the most difficult to photograph as they do not have a regular schedule compared to cargo trains. In December I was able to photograph the 1736 near Rotterdam.

Five years ago, a :ret_rotterdam: metro crashed through the buffer stop on the viaduct and landed on the artwork in front of it. Nowadays, there is not much left that reminds us of this bizarre incident.
The only things that still recall the accident are the 4 young trees visible in my photo. The old trees had to be removed shortly after the accident to make space for cranes that lifted away the crashed metro.

There aren’t that many exciting changes this year in the Netherlands regarding rail. An interesting change is that Vlissingen (Zeeland province) now has a direct connection to Breda, Arnhem, and Zwolle every hour.
(The intercity to Amsterdam is currently limited to Rotterdam due to ongoing construction work.)

This morning a train incident in 🇳🇱 got recorded by the "Railcam Amersfoort" provided by Mo Online.
Visible is IC 626 standing on track 6 at Amersfoort Centraal (slightly left from the center, end of the train in the shadow). The Nightjet 420 (pulled by a Vectron) comes into view, driving on the same track. The NJ has some speed and makes an emergency brake. It stops just before the intercity.
I won't go into speculation about the cause, but I am glad it didn't end worse than this 🙏.

Hmm. I added the translation option to my Mastodon instance (with DeepL) but the "Translate" button does not appear in the Mastodon Web UI. Also tried wrapping the API key in single-quotes and added DEEPL_PLAN=free. Someone experience with this? #MastoAdmin

Today the heritage - but also not heritage anymore - Plan V 904 is making some round trips between Amersfoort and Barneveld Zuid station. For press and public.
The 904 is a multiple unit belonging to the :ns_nl_b: Plan V / Mat ‘64 series. It retired at NS in 2011 to become a heritage train for a foundation. In 2024 it became clear Keolis had interest in renting the 904 due to upcoming train shortage. The 904 got a revision and new livery.

Yesterday the Stoomstichting Nederland (SSN) was back in action with a charter train between Venlo (from Neuss Hbf) towards Gouda and back. I photographed the train on their way back to Venlo yesterday evening near Meteren.

News about the Bentheimer Eisenbahnen '🇩🇪 Neuenhaus - Coevorden 🇳🇱' reactivation: It looks like the last legal hurdles in The Netherlands have been cleared. They got approval to drive to Coevorden.
Work for the required infrastructural adjustments should start at the end of this year, as far as I know.

Picked up an old laptop in Rotterdam Nesseland this morning. Nesselande is a relatively new extension of the city in the far east corner of the municipality. In Dutch this is called a “VINEX-wijk”. It also has a metro station (extended line B).

End of the line in Kerkrade. After this it becomes territory of the Province of Limburg and used by the ZLSM heritage railway (Miljoenenlijn). ProRail had plans to remove the tracks here and also removing the possibility to enter the ZLSM line here. Local and regional politicians protested and these plans are on hold currently.
