Hello World from the PLC organization ([plcred.org](https://plcred.org ))!
The org was soft-announced back in March at AtmosphereConf. We've been working through logistics step by step and now have a public web presence we can point to.

filtering visibility of accounts based on their current PDS hosting location is something we talked about early in the atproto network design process, and we decided against it.
it is similar to broad-stroke defederation dynamics from the fediverse, and I personally think is an anti-pattern

2026-04-16 12:24:40 UTC

it's never fun being up all night trying to keep systems online, but it is great to see co-workers shine and just bulldoze through it.
we are not fully out of the woods on this incident, and it will probably be a while before there is any sort of post-mortem.
but not, it's not from vibe coding.

this was most likely a misconfiguration on the bsky relay side.
we have various rate-limits at the relay. the general limits for the eurosky PDS are high, but an "events per hour" limit was probably triggered.
looking in to better monitoring and limit config to prevent similar problems.

small atproto specs thing: there was inconsistency about pluralization of the ":lang" suffix for i18n in permission-set lexicons. the specs said plural, the TS SDK was using singular, and folks have published lexicons with the singular.

very excited about lower costs with new Sync v1.1 relay, and did a write-up on how to host one cheaply
(though [@bad-example.com](https://bsky.app/profile/bad-example.com ) and @npub1y00…k794 kind of got me beat on the price point)

@npub1ayw…kf99 re: your ahoy intro and client app as locus of moderation:
yes! infra moderation is definitely a thing for servers/APIs, but we think apps (and particularly branded apps) are where a lot of classic content moderation could be centered (or at least flow from there)

how about @npub19y6…yh78 but for game servers (quake3, factorio, minecraft, whatever).
eg, on-atproto public metadata, discovery, membership/roles; off-atproto separate server which game actually talks to

wading in to the discourse I guess, but can't folks find more pro-gen-AI artists to riff with? maybe public domain or non-contemporary?
using literally the "I strongly feel that this is an insult to life itself" guy for just-poking-around experiments feels really off and bad-vibes

damn, missed my opportunity to get down on knees IRL and beg @npub1z3e…plyl for an XBlock-like labeler for insta-style big-text-image posts

couple #atmosphereconf questions around what apps/projects we'd love to see
here is a big list we have today! will try to get out something punchier soon

some group discussions i'm hoping to have at #atmosphereconf:
"IndieSky": there are a few scaled-down bsky appview projects. how can we get to an out-of-box "service distribution" which people can self-host?

2025-03-14 19:23:33 UTC

this doesn't seem to have impacted too many folks or services, but it is worth checking any consuming services you operate.
this took place around: Friday 14 March 2025 18:21:51 UTC
(plus/minus a few minutes)
should be seeing current sequences (now) like 6492917018

we may have had an operational oops with the bluesky firehose ([bsky.network](https://bsky.network )), resulting in some far-future sequences being emitted.
depending on how strict consumers are, might need to roll-back sequence. looking in to details now.

atproto devs!
this is a small one: we are updating the NSID syntax to allow non-leading digits in the final 'name' segment. this makes 'com.example.postV2' a valid NSID (it wasn't before).
this will take a while to roll out everywhere, and will be "broken" until it works everywhere...

got a new proposal up for web policy wonks!
calling these "User Intents"
this is a mechanism to let atproto users declare their preferences around certain categories of data use, like generative AI, public access archiving, bulk datasets, and protocol bridging

👩‍💻 ¡atproto devs! 🧑‍💻
just in time for the weekend: our protocol roadmap for the first half of 2025.
we got auth scopes, we got merkle tree inversions, we got deprecations, we got balmy spring weather and long walks in the forest. check it out!
