I guess it's official. Western Japan now has a near tropical climate (at least in summer) We've had daily late afternoon heavy rain and thunderstorms for the past few days.
I'm not completely complaining, it's a bit cooler at night.

I've never felt the "Imposter syndrome" too much here, but I know some Japanese (and English native speakers) have looked down on me as an English teacher because I'm not native. I don't usually care. What I care about is when some bozos become English teachers here despite their obvious absence of teaching (or even social) skills just because they're native speakers. They hurt the entire profession.

I'm alive. I made it to Amsterdam. We left three or four hours late (big thunderstorms in HK messed up all flights, and we had to wait for dozens of people whose flights couldn't land. Of course, I missed my flight to Toulouse. Luckily we got rescheduled for the next one... In four hours... Could be better, could be worse. It's good the kids are exhausted, they'd be bored to death and so annoying otherwise.

I mentioned it a few days, but I revamped my old personal site that I never use. I'll be using the blog part mostly for my students, with some grammar/vocab reminders as well as suggestions of music and movies/TV shows as they sometimes as me for some, but I rarely have the time to do in class).

#CrowUpdate Not about my crows, they're doing fine, mostly spending their days trying to stay away from the heat as much as they can. It's about the crows-by-the-sea. I've barely seen them lately, but that's my fault, I've barely been to their territory (except by car, I cross it daily). However, tonight, driving through, I noticed a dead crow on the sidewalk!!! I walked back there shortly after, and yes, one of them is dead. 😢 (1 of 2 or 3) ⤵️

Me a week ago: Remember students, don't email me after Monday 5pm about Wednesday class, I'll be out of my office until Wednesday morning and won't be able to check my work e-mail (I'm hearing some people check their work email outside of work, but I'm not one of them).
Student: emails me about Wednesday class on Tuesday at 11:30pm.
I swear, some students just think that if they do it before the next class it's fine, regardless of whether I can read and reply to it or not.

It's been a while since a #CrowUpdate
I see the #crows every day, but now the kids are quite mobile and are slowly learning to be independent (we're still far from it, but earlier today, I was surprised when at some point mom, dad and one kid were in the park, but not the other kid. S/he arrived a few minutes later, and I was even worried something happened to it since the last time I saw it. So they spend less time in the park during the day, and with the heat they mostly hide in the shade?⤵️

Some countries may have speeding drivers, some countries may have drunk drivers, but Japan have senile drivers, and it's as bad. I just escaped a bad accident because an old guy didn't see the red light.
I was waiting to turn at the intersection, the light changed for me, but I noticed that car coming (at normal speed) and slowing down a single bit despite the light having turned red for them. Had I gone, collision would have been unavoidable. ⤵️
