Having moved to #london earlier this year, I’m fascinated by how far behind Europe in general seems to be on #bitcoin adoption. General sentiment seems to be dismissive at best…

Hey where did the Hurdle Rate Podcast by @nprofile…7vmf and @nprofile…t233 go?

I agree - there should be multiple Bitcoin dev teams competing to build the best version of Bitcoin which would be determined by node operators / miners.

The challenge with #bitcoin education is that when you talk about the problem that bitcoin solves, you scare people - and then cover their ears and bury their heads in the sand like an ostrich.

@nprofile…5vs5 this article seems to say banks would no longer be restricted by the SLR in determining how much in treasuries they could buy… but I fail to see the link between that and the banks having the ability to absorb liquidity ‘as infititum’. Don’t they still need real cash to buy treasuries and so are capped by what they have on the balance sheet?

Surprisingly, and ironically, my favourite speaker at the Bitcoin 2025 Conference was none other than Peter Schiff 😂. Whole thing just felt like such a hyped up delusional financial cult party. Totally get why regular people look at this stuff and decide to pass on the #bitcoin spectacle. While I prefer more measured debate and critical assessment, I have to accept that any big idea or large movement will have its fair share of hopium-driven fan boys.

Ahh I see future share issuances of STRF would bring the price back down even if they use the proceeds to buy more BTC, because it’s MSTR stock that benefits from increased BTC per share. STRF is not equity ownership. Thanks for the response! 🙏

2025-05-18 08:35:34 UTC

Question on Strategy’s STRF: Right now the yield on stated amount is 10% on $100 - so 10 dollars per share. The stated amount doesn’t change. If through better future credit ratings and bitcoin being perceived as safer in the market, the price of STRF goes up (lets say to 200), then the yield-on-price becomes less (5%). At a certain point the price hits a ceiling where the yield isn’t enough to justify price.
So how does STRF remain an attractive fixed income product at those prices? People who buy now would benefit, but it becomes less attractive over time?

Just finished reading through a strategic report on de-dollarization and how the euro is apparently the closest contender for reserve currency status. No mention of #bitcoin at all.
Meanwhile dozens of federal, state and municipal governments around the world have or are considering bitcoin reserves.
We hire very smart people in our industry but they all seem to have horse blinders on when it comes to bitcoin 🤦‍♂️

Big news today! The window of opportunity to buy some bitcoin and front run all US state governments is now closing.

I keep thinking about what has to break for global insurance capital to consider Bitcoin exposure. Right now the industry still dismisses Bitcoin as a scam. A couple exceptions like Allianz, Mass Mutual, and Stoneridge…

2025-04-27 19:01:22 UTC

Reinsurance and insurance companies still don’t see #bitcoin exposure as viable for their investment portfolios. I think we will start to look at it when long-tail line claims inflation (esp on the insurance side) far exceeds our actuarial estimates and we realize we need a better hedge than holding inflation protected bonds (which are CPI linked). Then maybe the likes of Allianz and Mass Mutual will look like geniuses.
