Spent an inordinate amount of time this afternoon trying to get my daily email of want list items for sale from Discogs showing only those shipped from UK. I gave up in the end after getting frustrated, but it seems, and I have no idea how, that I have done it. Excellent.

Quite an emotional opening. I still have two original commodore 64s, always will do, but there is just something about this version. Official product, expandable, yet retains all the charm. Not an emulator, a re-creation. #xp

I love it. It has bought a lot of my records back to life - it even improves new vinyl. It really does make a huge difference. Before getting it I used a manual spin clean bath and it was pretty good, but results were never as good as the humminguru.

I know! It’s hard because I know they are there to make money for the charity but honestly, just price them to sell and they get the money instead of records that will never sell. I found one shop in Stratford that sold all LPs for £1. That’s my kind of shop 😄

This was in Oxfam in Witney. They had a good Jazz selection but most were overpriced (for charity shops) but this was like £5 so snapped it up.

Playing a few of the recent charity shop purchases from a few weeks ago. This Jazz Sampler from Prestige is better than I first thought it might be. Starting off with an abridged but very cool version of A Young Man, a.k.a. Young Man Blues. We’ve got Arnett Cobb, Art Blakey, Miles Davis and others. Nice addition.

Agreed. Some great used kit out there too. What HiFi is a good source of info. The beauty of vinyl is if the turntable/amp/phono stage were rated excellent 15 years ago, they will be excellent today!

I think it’s more to do with outrageous rent by landlords in the perceived wealthier towns/cities. That’s certainly the case here in the Cotswolds. Prices have to be hiked accordingly.

Madness, my first ‘proper’ musical obsession. When I was 11 or 12 I created a Madness fan club in school - I typed out newsletters with lyrics and reviews on my dad’s typewriter. I had the obligatory Harrington jacket covered in Madness badges. And of course perfected the dance! Great days, and a great band.
