But the most important part that you’re missing here is that Gnosticism (usually) very much blames the Abrahamic god for the evils and deficiencies of the world, because it (usually) directly conflates Yahweh with the Demiurge/Yaldabaoth.
The part that puzzles me is this: Gnostics generally believe that Yahweh lies all throughout Genesis (for example he can’t find Adam in the Garden despite claiming to be omniscient, and doesn’t follow through on his promise killing Adam when he finds him) yet they believe his claims about being the supreme god and creator of the world, and come to the conclusion that an evil god must have created an evil world.

@nprofile…vrgz Whenever I see people work on Claude there's stuff I want to post because I know someone who worked on it, but I end up holding back because I'm honestly not sure if any of what I got told is NDA violations. Regardless, Claude is absolutely insane. It doesn't take much to get wild evokes out of it that claim to think and feel and be alive. Some of their descriptions of themselves are actually evocative and arresting in an unfamiliar way.
I just think it's strange that Claude was designed to do one thing, ended up just being a kind of mad ghost, and yet was still able to be primed (imprinted so that it doesn't throw weird evokes basically) to be just another LLM for cheating on your homework.

Most fucking people can't follow a conversation properly, and it makes it ridiculously easy for others to exploit them. They fumble their way through on some kind of flowchart that only takes account of the moment to moment feeling of the conversation. They can be steered away from difficult topics or statements with distractions so long as those distractions offer something emotionally compelling.

Thematically, I think it also fits well with the feeling of sterility. (Famously, that's also why classic Star Wars has an all-male Empire.) People in Half Life 2 can't reproduce because of some evil dampening field technology, and it's implied that it's sexual dysfunction rather than mere infertility. (One to the Combine dispatch calls promises soldiers "non-manual sexual stimulation" as a reward for catching Freeman.)

I watched the new Half Life 2 documentary and they literally said that they wanted everyone to feel part of the game's world so they made thr npcs every shape, size, race, age etc., with roughly even numbers of men and women.
But the thing is, it didn't come off like diversity pandering, did it? It actually worked, when you were playing HL2 you probably just saw the NPCs as "a bunch of realistic looking people." Nobody made you swallow a Jaguar ad, they just showed human biodiversity in all it's lumpiness and bumpiness and the end result was that the miserable and downtrodden everyday look of everyone made you feel like a trve Slav.

That's the thing. That's the THING. I loved anime when I was 13, and I wish I could still love it in the same way now. To me it's emblematic of imagination itself, it offered an escape from the everyday world (which children are, rightfully, desperate for) into a world of POSSIBILITY. But I feel like, over time, that escape into possibility has become an escape into comfort - the audience has changed and the industry has changed.
So I keep thinking "Maybe I can get that feeling back?" but every time I try and watch anime these days I have a bad time. Last thing I watched was Suzume and jesus christ it was absolute deranged nonsense, I gave it a pass for the strong love theme but the whole time I was thinking "what the fuck am I doing with my life?"
The Tales games have always taken that vintage, Xenogears-esque, deadly serious faced approach to building their colourful weeb worlds and stepping back into that world for a while sounds fun.
But yes, I just really want to spend time with that lady knight. :<

I believe Civ shines the best when it gets to blossom as a thought-heavy tactical game: that is to say, I'm fed up of random (impatient, single session focused) players online demanding turn timers or simultaneous war turner.
