Sea ice extent rankings for the various seas around the Arctic as of August 14 in NSIDC analysis. For the Arctic as whole ice extent is the 4th lowest since 1979 for the date. Arctic-wide minimum extent is about four weeks away. #Arctic #SeaIce #Climate

Fairbanks sunset Monday evening is before midnight for the first time since May 28. It’s the same for me every year: in the Spring I’m happy for the midnight sun.
