Me too. I've been sadly watermelon deprived this summer. And very sneaky, they don't put the country of origin on watermelons around here, so have to pass them by. China alone produces 60 tonnes of watermelon. The US is not the only option for grocery stores. Frustrating.

Eating seasonally is much more interesting than 'everything available all the time.'
Good to look forward to fiddlehead season, strawberry season, and corn on the cob season, and then eat so much you don't want to see it again until next season. 😆
Summertime = watermelon. It's available all year round, but it just goes with summer.
Not everything can be seasonal (milk, flour, butter, chocolate, etc) but very nice to go with the flow where possible.

Just heard the mayor of a US city on Canadian border saying they have to "keep up the pressure" on Canadians to visit the USA.
Like 'pressure' is going to encourage anyone to come visit (and spend $$$).
Like that's what you want to think about on vacation, your host country pressuring your family.
And, have they ever met a Canadian? We don't respond too well to 'pressure.' Too many lovely, stubborn people have migrated to Canada.

To me, I find the concealing of information to be more manipulative than if someone just laid out the facts.
This is what's wrong.
This is what we're doing about it.
Gives the daughter the opportunity to "Is there anything I can do to help?" If she doesn't want to burden the daughter, just say "No, we've got it under control, but will let you know if there is something you can do."

Just chiming in from the concerned daughter point of view - we worry more because Mom isn't open and upfront about the health situation. And it deprives us of the opportunity to help and support, which is something that can be resented for a long time. Also suggests to the daughters that we aren't able to cope, which can be a little undermining.

Got out of bed, looked out the window in hopes fresh air would solve the problems of the world. Very still, starlit night.
Saw 7 deer lounging on the neighbour's lawn. Lounging in the best relaxing and enjoying the view mode. At midnight. ♥
All my troubles vanished instantly from my sleepy brain. Nature is magic.
