A heartbreaking read.
The care home opposite us has been bought by a company with several other homes caring for a range of people with mental health issues, which has caused some concern in the village. The 3rd age range given to us about probable residents is 8 -14. "Some may have additional needs" they plan to make it as much like a home as possible. Whoever those children are, what happens after 14? Doesn't sound like home. Children deserve better

I can hardly bear to read it. The failure of public health advice was all too obvious. I never had one iota of faith in what Johnson and his goons had to say, and that included Whitty and Valance who seemed to me to be just saying what they were told to say and not what they actually thought.
Official covid advice is still based on hand washing. Wearing a mask barely gets a mention

Grudgingly granted asylum, expected to settle and contribute, especially contribute, while it suits.
What if it doesn't suit them? Some may be only too happy to go back. It's their home. Some are likely to be too traumatised to even want to consider it or have built a life here. It will introduce a whole new layer of assessment.

Interesting that this is the second time that I have heard #Radio4 justify their coverage of migration. I wonder if that means they are getting complaints.
It's high time they started presenting facts. Demonstrate just what a tiny proportion of asylum seekers we actually have. Report on what conditions in asylum "hotels" are actually like. Investigate whether crime figures have changed in hotel areas. Actually talk to people who are not Reform.

I also wonder what is going to happen to the 'asylum hotels' that are likely to have their occupants moved out. How many of the hotels were failing before they became used for asylum seekers? They will all need refurbishing. All the services that were removed will need replacing, or will they be left derelict?

A woman whose case I followed was told that although she had been given a kidney transplant while she was legally here and was dependent on immuno-suppressant drugs. The Home Office refused her leave to remain and planned to remove her to where she would be unable to afford the drugs that kept her alive. The HO accepted that but argued that her removal was "proportionate to the legitimate aim of maintaining effective immigration control.”
