Diesel implementiert SQL Typsicher in Rust und wird unter Anderem bereits von crates.io, Lemmy, Vaultwarden, Firefox Sync genutzt. @npub1vwg…zd0y hat im Rahmen des Prototype Funds Diesel um die Unterstützung von Datenbank Views erweitert und erklärt uns, was hinter dem Projekt steckt.

Our project directors Patricia Leu and Marie Kreil are now looking back on eight years of the Prototype Fund.
Among other things, they talk about the wild early years, federal travel expense laws, pizza, Lego, talks about and with the Prototype Fund, (mega) demo days & weeks, pandemic, foreign intelligence operation, open source licenses, table sizes, Wi-Fi in the mountains of India, procrastination when it comes to applications, and so much more.

Prototype Fund is going on!
We can now officially confirm that we‘re continuing to fund #OpenSource software projects over the next 4 years.
While some things will stay the same, we‘ve also changed a lot: There’s more money for teams, new funding sums and scope. You can apply as an European team as long as one of you lives in Germany and there‘s also no need to (AI) translate your applications anymore, as they are accepted in English too.

Mit causy können aus Daten Kausalitäten abgeleitet werden, der https://mediaimpactmonitor.app macht die Auswirkungen von Protestbewegungen sichtbar und Investigating Science stellt datenbasierte Werkzeuge bereit, mit denen Forschung auf Qualität geprüft werden kann.
Für alle Grundvoraussetzung: Offene Datensätze, die in ordentlicher Form zur Verfügung gestellt werden, mit denen dann experimentiert und gearbeitet werden kann.

Plastikmüll in den Ozeanen kostet uns bis zu 19 Milliarden US-Dollar im Jahr - oder ca. 14,6 Taylor-Swift-Vermögen. Zum Glück gibt es das Projekt Ocean Eco Watch, das Satellitenbilder automatisiert auswertet und so Plastikmüll in Küstenregionen findet.
