Proposal: New Nostr Kind-0 Metadata Fields
Please share this note for more peer review.
I've drafted a proposal to add three new optional fields to kind-0 user metadata: status, partner, and kin.
— status (integer 0-7): relationship status, from single to married to open relationship. Integer-based for localization across all languages.
— partner (hex pubkey array): link your partner(s) to your profile. First entry is primary.
— kin (tuple array): family connections with optional relationship types — parent, sibling, child, cousin, in-law, and more.
All fields are optional, public, and use hex pubkeys natively. Clients that don't support them simply ignore them. The spec includes relay size analysis, a privacy section, and a comparison to NIP-81 (Contact Cards).

nostrbama, a round trip to Europe, and now a cross country move to SoCal for a new skydiving job. I lost two weeks of dev time but I'm probably only three weeks out from an alpha release if I stop obsessing with UI.
Anyone knowledgable in load balancers, docker rolling releases, clusters, securing my vps, it would be cool to connect on signal. This is my first time learning to scale.

Been an unlucky year. I know the people out in cross keys where it happened, still not sure who was on it.
Same thing today that you wont hear about at the job I'm about to take. Perris, CA had an engine out today at 7k agl, declared an emergency at 8k agl, and everyone exited at 9k agl. Plane landed safe and was back online a few hours later.

The hardest part in coding a nostr app is the nostr part, shocking. This chart is a comparison of the pros and cons of three different nostr apps fetching styles. The thing I've suffered with the most in building a client is knowing what is the correct process to fetch a dataset from relays and how to serve that data. How much data to fetch at once and how compartmentalized should my fetching be.
Primal is the only app that I know of that uses a caching relay and this leads to stale data, centralization, and censorship but this is why they're able to leverage accurate event counts on their users profiles and notifications. I'm assuming it's aggregating events on the server side to condense these counts into a single fetch. Working with nip-45 outside of caching doesn't seem scalable in my limited experience with it.
No matter what, vibe coding can't build a production worthy nostr app and It's time I commit to stop taking shortcuts if I want to realize my vision. So I'll be spending the next however long it takes to learn how each web apps fetching strategy works to find an optimal conclusion.
I'd appreciate it if anyone wants to share any advice while I'm still figuring this out. Also it's quite awful at times learning this skill set solo, so thank you if you've ever been supportive to me.

I'm really hoping it will be what nostr needs to stop its stagnation and bring nostr to the masses. But I know it will be poorly received at first by legacy users because of my approach. I think this will be short lived once my code is reviewed and the product gets some use.
No clue how this is going to play out in reality.

Even with web assembly the limitation in render speed is CSS. until the internet moves away from the current standards JavaScript will remain relevant. especially with the cross platform power of PWAs. everything else could be pure assembly, maybe Zig.

I live in a non stop moving semi truck to fund my nostr app.
wake at 1pm, 2 hours of coding.
I rotate the night shift 3pm to 3am central.
code for another 3 hours, sleep at 6am.
7 days a week, months out without home time. In a new state every time I wake, no concept of the what day it is or what time zone I'm in.
The passion keeps my alive, eager to solve just one more problem before I have to stop. To realize my vision a little sooner.
I think aspiring for a seemingly impossible vision, leads to constantly creating obtainable goals. Conquering them daily leads towards self actualization and that is the solution to long term inner suffering. It also leads to short term sacrifice and thus suffering while conforming to becoming the person you're chasing after. If you can persist past then 80/20, the true meaning is found at the summit.

how user relays are stored.
take a pubkey to fetch nip65 against harcoded relays to return a relay list just to start fetching nostr logic. that's if you even find this list. if we don't novice users have to use an input to outline their initialization relay. which is goofy.
wish there was a purple page type relay only for kind 10,002 that bidirectionally read all relays and found the most up to date list as a source of truth and that this source relay had geographic redundancy to stop bad actor relay owners and act as a CDN for first load then checks the next few hops of this relay version.
