Jobs are: wages, benefits, and conditions of work. Conditions of work -- token access to the best equipment is not a wage. Wages are taxable and subject to Soc Sec and Medicare points eligibility and contributions. DOL, IRS, SEC, Soc Sec, CMS, and each state defrauded out of state income taxes may be interested.

I just watched a long but engrossing video by Will Stancil driving in a small Honda Fit doggedly filming and tailing and reporting on two ICE vehicles in Minneapolis. He is live on the phone with a centralized coordinating base where he gives constant updates on location and movement while honking his horn in repeated beeps to warn others and rip anonymity from ICE. Apparently the Resistance has separate districts covering the city with 24/7 coordinated volunteer observers in cars (over 200 drivers in each district) and on bikes and on foot (over 1000 observers in each district with whistles and phones) all following, reporting to a centralized bank that is notifying and coordinating citywide coverage to protect their city. At one point he hears someone else following ICE who reports there is a car between her and the ICE vehicles she is tailing and reports his plate and car description. He happily exclaims "That's me!" The two ICE appear to split up, and he follows the first (she warns him of an ICE tactic to try to shake him) and she says she'll stay on the second. ICE gives up trying to shake them, as the two spotters work together to tail.
They can mask, but they can't hide.
Resistance is alive, coordinated, volunteer, and growing. Resistance is NOT futile.
The next ICE target will learn from Minneapolis, which learned from Charlotte, which learned from Chicago, which learned from LA.
We're getting better at resisting. This is teaching a whole generation of patriots practical creative, clever, necessary tools for defending our democracy. Don't count us average Americans out.

Into the unknown both hope and fear reside.
As a 3rd generation American, LGBTQ, person of color living in the very rural part of the likely bluest state, I don't experience the US as on the precipice of Civil War. However, I am not so sanguine that we won't end up there, anything is possible.
The US is a massive nation. I grew up on the farthest West state, Hawai'i, the newest state in the Union, and now live in one of the original and oldest states - Massachusetts. There are MAGA here, but they are outnumbered. Massachusetts is very blue. But because we are so geographically isolated, to survive, our local culture is a balance of self-sufficiency and interdependence both Blue and Red. Armed conflict would be an irrevocable breach of rural local identity. And because we are rural, lots of folks hunt and have guns, even Democrats. So if this devolves into armed conflict rural Blue New England won't go without a fight.
There are lots of serial flashpoints, and those get media, which is what you see overseas. But know this is Trump's standard - one flashpoint at a time, so far. Trump does not appear to have the troops, organization, discipline or ability to manage a national civil war. And no other fascist ambitious current MAGA leader has the engendered cult loyalty and charisma to trigger and win a Civil War.
I actually believe the opposite about Trump's power - I believe he peaked on July 4 2025 with his substantial budget bill destruction of significant parts of the US (w Congressional MAGA complicity) and his greatest win has actually triggered his downhill slide and he's is angry, desperate, in denial, fuminating and at his most chaotic dangerous recklessness as he tries to erase the inevitable fate that he is seeing awaits him. But time, gravity, and history are now his inescapable enemies. He will get worse, and his minions worsen, but he's no longer inevitable. You can see it in the those polls on his cratering popularity, and on the MAGA who are abandoning their Congressional seats. Corporate media here and over there are both trailing, not leading, indicators. They missed the trends that brought Trump to power, they are missing the trends that signal his end.

The case may hinge on audio. "GET OUT OF HERE!" Directs the driver to comply and do as she was told before being executed by an ICE agent who appears to have positioned himself in the road directly in front of the car with his weapon. If it is this command, the ICE agent committed a 1st degree execution. Notice after he shoots her at near point blank range, he casually walks toward the car vs the other agent who runs toward it.
"GET OUT OF THE CAR" is a different direction, which DHS will claim the driver ignored. The positioning of the other ICE appears atypical for this kind of order, since they usually assume a different conflict configuration.
It is also possible the ordering ICE and the driver miscommunicated.
The ICE shooter - is he a recent Proud Boy or Active (Nazi) Club recruit?
Whoever has audio clears this case.

The cruelty is Trump and DHS point. Gregory Laverde has Downs Syndrome and he and his brother Victor (an asylum seeker targeted by Venezuela as a public critic of Maduro) were found innocent of the local Athens Ohio charges by a local judge who dismissed the criminal charges against them WITH PREJUDICE (they cannot be recharged), they are nevertheless in ICE prison as "criminals" and housed with actual violent felons who abuse them.
There is no moral society that tortures a human with Downs, with the mental and emotional capacity of a child, in a violent prison.

Sixteen Minutes
07:59. 6 August 1945
In sixteen minutes
a beautiful bright clear light
will fill your eyes
sparks will fly and shimmer
all around you
In sixteen minutes
the floor will slip
beneath your feet
your toes will feel
the sudden coolness of earth
In sixteen minutes
a wonderful wind
will rush through you
sweeping by bits and pieces of sky
So you comb your thick white hair
and smile at the worn picture
in the corner of your mirror
three little faces
staring shyly back
waiting for you
in that far away place
In sixteen minutes
you will turn in the middle of the street
and look in a shop window
you will see a bolt of soft cotton
red flowers and bright yellow bees
just right
for a little girl
for the granddaughter
you hope to meet someday
In sixteen minutes
near the center of town
the overcast will clear
for just a second
you will feel the air
turn hot, electric
buzzing
shearing off your skin

Most of my poetic characters are small ordinary accidental witnesses to major historical events, unaware of its import or its looming outcome - they don't have the perspective to fully understand their own experience as part of something larger. It's how I write, I start with a feeling, a glimpse, a sense memory and I let it unfold until I find myself at the end. I sometimes don't fully understand my own poems until years later, with time and perspective. But there's often a deliberate emotional gut punch written into most of my work, which while not fully understood by the characters, is meant for readers who have a broader context of time and events to fill in meaning that the characters themselves cannot yet. In one prose poem I wrote, I liken it to how a seamstress carefully sews different odd disparate pieces - which make little sense as pieces, but once sewn together make a thing, a whole, both seamed and seamless.

The bases for my protest are rooted in a mix of love, despair, fury, and hope for my country.
It's been angering to be continually mischaracterized by Trumpists and the cowed media as both weak and violent, as both hateful and meek, as humorless easily bullied stiffs.
What struck me about the inflatable frog protests was the realization why that was accidentally so powerful and resonant: We actually are the earnest, good neighbors who tried to live by example and teach our children and each other to welcome and respect our national diversity, to expect equality: our avatars (mocked, despised, and targeted by Trump) included a green banjo playing frog, a plus-sized pig, two suspiously loving best male friends, a grouch in a trash can, a tall gawky bird, Mr Rogers and his neighborhood, the anti-manosphere Barney...and we were stunned when the actually most humanly vulnerable of us were attacked with brutal force by Government armed, powerful, masked, vicious, sneering bullies who insisted we were powerless and they were inevitable.
Tomorrow we shall see. This will be the most critical demonstration of the power of Cooperative Game Theory, if we are massive enough. If, by sheer numbers we prove we are inevitable, and thus influence the sideliners (including media, colleges, military, business), by shoving that Overton window back to square with the force of history. When with the shockingly normal sane decent values of Sesame Street and Mr Rogers we rise together and say "We are inevitable, not you."
However each of us arrives tomorrow, we can change the trajectory of history and speed the coming inevitable decay of Trumpism.

My uncle was arrested at gunpoint by US troops with fixed bayonets after spending the whole day as a first responder diving into the burning waters of Pearl Harbor to rescue and recover US sailors and marines on Dec 7, 1941, as a soldier of the Hawai'ian Territorial Guard -- he was suddenly arrested as an enemy Jap. He and his fellow Japanese Americans guardsmen were imprisoned for days in a brig, incommunicado, without a clue what was happening, until a local white officer intervened and white plantation owners vouched for them as loyal US citizens born and raised on O'ahu. He would later volunteer and serve in Europe in the segregated "Purple Heart Battalion" -- the 100th Battalion of the segregated 442nd Regimental Combat Team - the most decorated unit of its size in US Army history. This is a calculated negotiator's move: carefully build a box around a stubborn recalcitrant opponent so there is only one exit left at the end.
China has signaled, in joint tariffs talks with historic enemies Japan and So Korea, with agreements with India to de-escalate a border dispute, and now with the EU, they are building a box around Trump.
China sees this as its moment of preeminence on the World's stage, because of Trump. The stupidity and recklessness of Trump.
Trump is addicted to the endorphin rush of dominance for dominance sake. So, there is no goal to negotiate or any outcome to come to, it's all a process high. So there's never any complete satisfaction on his part. He uses three tools: vanity, greed, and fear. To keep the high going. Endlessly, until he dies.
It's a psychology that's bad for relationships of all kinds. There's never "good enough".
Everyone has spent time trying to figure out what he wants, as if the process has some tangible goal that satisfies him like winning something that matters. The process, the playing of the game itself, is what he lives for. It's the rush in the act of dominance he wants, but it's an escalating rush that can never ultimately satisfy.
It's why he makes no sense. Why he lies pathetically about winning even stupid meaningless stuff.
China has him figured out, and he's bad for business. He's an untrustworthy global partner. China's building a box, getting ready to now be the world's new boyfriend.

Faculty have power they refuse to use to support colleagues who are targeted and fired. Because they can't reach consensus to use the most important power they have to gut the power of administrators and trustees -- they can collectively refuse to teach, and dare the institution to terminate them.
No one applies to a university because of the VP for Administration, no alumni donate because of the Facilities Director or HR VP. Learning is the product and faculty are the means of production.
Faculty could be a profile in courage, but the most they can muster is a meaningless vote of "no confidence" in a President. And in refusing to act, they betray the trust of students and demonstrate why they are a faithless alternative.

I was just talking to someone from our volunteer fire dept today about a wildfire. We haven't had a major wildfire here in a 100 years. Most of our woods are second growth from the 1920s, and many of the old pastures for dairy have been abandoned back to woodlands as family dairy farms have disappeared. While we still have water up in the hills and streams and rivers, it's getting drier, with less snowfall. Only one small hilltown has had a plan for the last 30 years or so in case of a major wildfire, and that is to use their armada of surplus military dozers to cut a fire break around their entire town, and watch the other towns burn. It's a little ruthless, but it's a plan, I guess.

On this day, December 7th, I remember my Uncle Bob who was a member of the Hawai'ian Territorial Guard in their WW1 surplus Tin Hat helmets and rifles in the 1930s and 40s. They were mustered as first responders to save sailors and marines from the burning waters of Pearl and transport to Tripler immediately at the attack.
His sister, my mother, watched the horrific attack from Manoa where she worked as a live-in nanny as she attended secretarial school in town. Her employers told her to rush home to the North Shore. She said the explosions and fires were shocking and scary. When she got home, they learned Bob was at Pearl with the Guard but had no contact.
Meanwhile, at Pearl, after hours of diving into the burning waters and transporting the wounded, by about 6pm, Uncle Bob and his fellow Guard troops who were Americans of Japanese ancestry found themselves under arrest at bayonet-point as spies, under the orders of a white Mainland General. They were held for days by US troops with guns trained on them until local officials intervened and they were released.
Bob rejoined his Guard unit reformed as the 100th Battalion, then volunteered to fight in Europe as part of the segregated 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the most highly decorated US military unit in US military history for its size. They knew they were going to be used as racist cannon fodder, and they fought valiantly despite it. Because, for guys like my Uncle Bob (and three other Uncles and my cousin Buster) they were fighting for their home, Hawai'i, and for democracy. In one battle, a short company of 110 was left with only 8 standing. Bob was wounded multiple times, and received Bronze Stars and commendations which we did not know about until after he died and was given a military funeral with 21 gun salute.
The fight for democracy is a relentless and continuing fight. This is why I fly the American flag, to honor those who willingly sacrificed, with full knowledge of their beloved, complicated, and imperfect America. Uncle Bob was a devout Buddhist, and war and killing were antithetical to his personal religious beliefs, and this was his greatest sacrifice, one that left him in absolute quiet moral agony till he died in 2008, at Tripler.
He was the sweetest, kindest, gentlest, soft-spoken quiet man. RIP.

The statement of a guy who tanked one of the two major legacy papers in the US. Loss of subscriptions is no small thing, loss of tens of thousands on a single day is crushing. He brought in Murdochy Lewis to save his paper financially and he blew up its credibility all by himself.

Peter Thiel espouses eugenics, consistent with the white South African childhood he lived, an experience he shares with South African Elon Musk. Like Musk, both espouse viscious racist anti-immigrant beliefs (about spoiling the pure blood of America) even as both are naturalized citizens who were non-US immigrants to our country.
Thiel is a traitor to our beliefs as a nation of immigrants whose founding motto is "e pluribus unum", a belief he's too stupid and arrogant to understand.

On a wholly separate note, Kamala Harris gives a really good sermon. She is an inheritor to Jimmy Carter's legacy of faith inspired good works. She's an actual good person. One more reason I'm super proud to have already voted for her.

Do people realize this is the "Great" the Trumpist "Make America Great" wants us to be "Again"? Where young women gave up jobs to men for lesser paying work or remained at home pregnant, and working older women gave up jobs to stay home and babysit their grandchildren. JD Vance says this quiet MAGA part out loud, and elderly Trump has annointed him his MAGA successor. Men, expect the great MAGA working life of your great-grandfathers, it wasn't romantic, it was crushingly stressful, my dad (b. 1907) worked multiple jobs from the age of 11, and didn't have time to relax, socialize, play games, sports, or indulge in "self-care". Your wife will lose her job to a man, and you will be a one income family, your income.

Can we get a correction here, folks? The "covid tests" Trump took from scarce US supplies to send to Putin were not the two-to-a-box OTC kits you can get at CVS today. What Trump sent were the scarce Abbott Labs Covid Testing Machines (plural), not cardboard boxed kits; These 2020 Abbott machines were Emergency Authorization early approved state-of-the-art 6.6 pound molecular point-of-care testing machines the size of a toaster. Hospitals and clinics desperately needed these rapid (5 minute) test machines to determine who was or wasn't infected to stop the spread. Americans likely died because they were denied access to US machines that Trump was stealing from US supplies to send to his KGB handler.

When I did door knocking in 1983 for Harold Washington on the northside of Chicago, whites said they'd never vote for a Black Mayor because he'd do to them what white Mayors had done to Blacks on the southside. They assumed that "reverse racism" was a real thing AND they tacitly admitted they benefited from a racist government that unfairly privileged them. They said "We're going to lose our services to "the blacks."
I said "It's true. For fairness sake, some things will change. Right now you get your trash picked up 3x a week. On the southside theirs is picked up once a month. Would it be so unfair for yours to be picked twice a week so theirs can be picked up twice a month?"
Harold Washington was not elected by a sea change in white voters. He was elected by new, formerly unregistered voters. He was the greatest, most decent and honorable politician I ever campaigned for in my life. He died too early. RIP.

Lev Parnas specifically ties NYT reporter Ken Vogel as mouthpiece, inside man, and apologist for Rudy Giuilani at NYT. A review of his articles appears to support this in Vogel's curious erasures of Giuilani's role in Hunter Biden's cases in his articles. He has a bias. Protect your friends, aid and abet the damage done to the victim of your friend. And cover up.
So much for the scoldy NYT lie of non-partisan reporting.

Hitler and modern neo-Nazis and fascists would agree with your statement that the US military fighting WW2 was neither beneficial or necessary. My uncles, all of were wounded, who liberated a satellite camp of Dachau would find your opinion privileged and parochial, as they watched in horror "human skeletons walking".
You make sweeping statements about all veterans. You don't know all veterans because you haven't lived everywhere.
I don't believe that you respect the sacrifice of veterans who fought against the evils of Nazism, while volunteering to serve in a segregated US army, for a nation that imprisoned their families, understanding American racism would require them to be used as cannon fodder.
You won't, but you should read the history of the 442nd RCT or the 761st Tank Battalion or the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. Perhaps you might understand the real sacrifice that earns real respect.

No veteran in my family carried guns except in combat. 100th Battalion, 442nd RCT. Called the Purple Heart Battalion. Look them up. 4 of my uncles and one cousin served there. It was a segregated unit used as cannon fodder. No guns at home. One Uncle served in New Guinea with Aussies in US Army Intelligence behind enemy lines. No guns. I was born and raised in the Middle Loch of Pearl Harbor, my families homes were straffed by Zeros on Dec 7th. No guns. My cousins were in combat in Vietnam, one in the Green Berets. No guns. My brother served in the Gulf. No guns. My younger second cousin served in Special Forces in Iraq and Afghanistan. No guns. You don't sound like you respect their service - Trump does call all of them losers and suckers. In my family we call them patriotic Democrats. #HarrisWalz2024

White folks who don't know what white privilege is? More than 11 seconds.
White skin buys you time. Time to roll down your window, after already handing over license and registration. Then after rolling down your window a second time. Being ordered out of your vehicle before being dragged violently out by the neck from your car and placed face down in handcuffs. How much time? Ten seconds.
Cops gave the Highland Park mass murderer minutes to exit his vehicle while armed with the weapon he used to shoot parade goers. White murderer got the benefit of white time.

Why do you repeat a LIE? @irelephant@calckey.worlpr
Arlington prohibits campaign ads. Trump is nobody, he's a candidate running for office who deliberately used photos of a smirking thumbs up orange draft dodger featuring the grave of a fallen Bronze & Silver soldier who did not give Trump permission to use his grave in a Trump Campaign Chinese Tik Tok video. Biden was VP when his photo was taken, at an official duty, did not show rando graves, was not smirking, or giving a gruesome thumbs up, and contained an unrequired disclaimer about not implying Pentagon endorsement.
As usual, the "bothsiderist" excuses from Jack Prosobiec, whose lies caused a gunman to storm a pizza shop and threaten children, are 100% crazy weirdo lies believed and repeated by pea brained losers.
So why are YOU repeating this lie? Concern trolling?

Joe Biden did Harris a great favor by setting the precedent "Go stuff it" to the NYT.
Most of the MSM have a high opinion of how critical they are to our democracy while simultaneously adamantly refusing to challenge the greatest threat to democracy, labeling that challenge as "partisan."
I hope Harris never agrees to a sitdown with 44 year old failson AG Sulzberger's NYT. His arrogance and vengeance deserve no respect. He will doom his own family paper to fading relevance.
