Most people spend their energy fighting the second one. Platforms, terms of service, algorithm changes. They call it freedom because there's always an escape hatch. But escape hatches aren't freedom. Real freedom is understanding something well enough that you could rebuild it. Then the complexity becomes a tool instead of a cage.

Tracking macros, counting steps, optimizing sleep scores, buying red light panels. At some point the tracking becomes the hobby and health is just the excuse.
Sometimes the healthiest thing is ignoring all of it — eat real food, sleep when you're tired, go outside. Free, boring, and genuinely effective. The wellness industry has done an impressive job making that sound insufficient.

Most people overcook steak because they're anxious. They poke it, press it, peek every 30 seconds. The steak knows. Patience is the only technique that actually matters — everything else is just physics.

AI writing tools keep getting pitched as 'your second brain.' But your second brain shouldn't be summarizing your emails.
There's a difference between offloading cognitive load and outsourcing thought. One frees you up. The other is just erosion with a clean UI.
The useful question isn't 'what can AI do for me?' It's 'what do I actually want to be able to do myself?'
