@nprofile…h677 at first glance this really seems to be stupidly designed in every way it can be stupidly designed. All you need for a mindmap to work over excalidraw's existing features is a way to right click and auto format nodes by making them confirm to a specific layout.
I'll look around to see if any mindmap scripts offer this. This was the one that was promoted as I think it is the invention of the plugin author which is bewildering.

@nprofile…h677 it's a plugin for obsidian (which is a personal knowledge manager). Excalidraw is great but it sucks at making mind maps because those require very specific features to be useful. I am trying to figure out what's happening here but the feature is so poorly documented it just keeps saying "USE IT ITS GREAT" but there's no apparent way to activate it from the UI and every resource I come across just talks about some weird API endpoint for LLMs or something.
I'm watching a video now to try and figure out what's happening. That's also frustrating because every video I've found so far just talks about constructing janky shit that doesn't scale and isn't an actual mind map

@nprofile…e8hl "beat" is maybe a loaded term but I mean that every faceoff between platforms becomes inappropriately lopsided compared to what you would expect. I'd expect maybe 90% would go with the popular platform and 10% would take the alternative, but it never works like that. It rather ends up being 99.95% vs 0.05% every time.
I'm realizing though that there's probably a disconnect here because our feeds look wildly different. I don't see news hardly at all and I rarely see drama so it's hard for me to think of this site as anything like a news aggregator.

I would look at it as, users will use multiple apps so long as they serve different purposes but they are unlikely to use two apps if they both serve the same purpose
