I think that states could be run by decentralised methods, and become worthy to be called true democracy.

Privacy is needed to protect us against criminal acts, even by states. It's not to protect criminal acts.
Now, states and its political caste …
(a) demonstrably engage in criminal acts themselves
(b) get to decide what is a criminal act
This structure creates a paradox, but it does not contradict the fundamental need for privacy.

It's hard, chicken-egg hard, it will take time, there will be victims to state violence, it may even fail.

All these all good reasons. Depending on the one you believe, your actions will be different.
Example:
If reason: "Takes time"
Then: "Do nothing, wait"
I think the key reason is the lack of a credit money layer for Bitcoin, its inelasticity and volatility.
Action: "Build Bitcredit Protocol"

Prediction:
Yes, Argentina could adopt #Bitcoin. But sadly, it won't. Just like El Salvador did not. Just like Lebanon did not. Just like Greece did not.
That's a hard prediction. Just a verifiable future fact.
Until we fix the monetary elasticity of Bitcoin ir will prevent adoption in the real economy, the use of bitcoin in the supply and production chains.

I heard the same from a telecom investor in 2009. They shut down a cool payment project that relied on QR codes because they wanted NFC to win, right then, right there. (Plus some corporate politics, to boot.)

Das wird zum akzeptablen Zeitgeist. Dem Farage in Großbritannien wurde auch das Konto gesperrt.
Sobald es Fiat-CBDCs gibt. brauchen die nicht mal mehr eine Bank zu "motivieren", sondern können einfach selbst per Knöpfchen enteignen. Zum Beispiel, wenn sich jemand zu intensiv mit Bitcoin beschäftigt.
