Still working away at our bath range. Flying back to my other home tomorrow. This trip to visit my family has FLOWN by. Loads and loads of love on both sides of the world. Always a tough thing… leaving is horrible. The bonus is the feeling of coming home no matter which way I fly. Our last winter walk today. Looking forward to the summer vibes I’m going home to, and my beautiful boys.

I loved going outside in the rain! Jumping in puddles, feeling the rain on my face. And the feeling of coming back inside to be cozy again, feeling all the little bits (fingers, ears, nose and toes) get warm and feel itchy! I’m home in Canada for a minute or two and I’m loving the cold/cozy juxtaposition. Don’t get me wrong… I love the warmth of NZ… but the nostalgia is real. Nice to be “home”

I would add that the united front is also super important in front of the kids. Of course it’s important to show children how to deal with conflict within a marriage, but when it comes to dealing with children, supporting each other is important. Kids definitely know how to play one against the other so iron clad support is vital! 😬 (I’m the other half)

We have decorations that go way back (36 years) to when my husband @nprofile…ctwa and I got married. We always decorate our tree on our anniversary and our boys have taken to see who can throw (soft) decorations the furthest and make them land on the tree! Ind year we had to listen to Snoop Dogs Christmas album in order to get them to participate 🤣🤣🤣

A wonderful reminder. I often think of one Christmas in particular, maybe 6-7 years ago when my boys were 17, 22, and 24. We have been renovating our house for 22 years now… but that year was particularly chaotic and I couldn’t find our angel. I was getting very upset and stressy. It was getting pretty bad when my middle son stormed into the kitchen, air blue with cursing (“ffs mum… etc etc) I could hear a horrible crunching noise, followed by what sounded like sawing… he marched back into the living room and jammed something on the top of the tree. It was half a red and silver aluminium coke can. He turned to me and with disgust in his voice said “For gods sake mum, get a grip. It’s not what’s on top of the tree, it’s who’s around it that matters!”. And that was a humbling reminder. That coke can lived in our box of Christmas decorations for years. We found the angel some years later, but my favourite tree topper will always be a coke can. Love to you @nprofile…ql8d and thanks for keeping it real.

I LOVE cooking on the fire. Fine weather and weekends see me trying new things to cook on the fire… you win some and lose some! The win this weekend was chicken gyros… cooking the homemade wraps in the fire was super satisfyingg. The “lose” was the upside down apple cake in the Dutch oven. I’ll try again, but the fire was too hot, the sugar burned, the apples all but disappeared! The cake part was ok and ice cream we served on top was great! 🤣😬 I’m a stubborn old thing tho… so I’ll definitely give it another try!

We use quite a bit of dill in our household and it’s very satisfying to grow it! I have a tiny kitchen garden with 5 dill plants and the dehydrator is full! I’m harvesting in such a way that the plant keeps growing. It will be interesting to see how much we get at the end of the season.

Hey! I’m @npub1nve…z58r wife, the soap maker, and that awesome your wife is interested in making soap! It’s such a cool thing to do. My soap is made from olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil as the base. I make huge quantities as I sell them in my gift store. I also have developed techniques and essential oil combinations over the years that I (and my customers) love, so your wife can play with the oils she likes to create her own. There are some great soap calculators online to help with percentages of water/oil/sodium hydroxide to ensure the soap ph level is safe at the end of curing time. I’d need to know a bit more about the kind of soap she wants to make before I could help her with a recipe (for example: lather vs non lather, face vs body, hard vs non drying etc) and what oils she easily has access to. GM I both love and loathe this time of year. As a small retail shop, all my Christmas orders that were placed waaaaaay back in May start arriving. Yesterday 14 big boxes arrived.
